Fuel/Air sensor (Not Oxygen sensor)

Need to change the air/fuel ratio sensor on sons 04 4.0ltr engine. I’ve read that on the 4.0 the upstream are air/fuel sensor, NOT oxygen sensors. Most threads I read elsewhere, people had to go to Toyota for an original part that was $200 for 1!

What about this as an alternative?

The one you want is around $100 on rockauto. Denso part 2349047 , works for either upstream left or right on the ‘04 V6

Denso makes the OEM sensors for Toyota so it’s basically the same part as the dealer just different packaging.

I recently bought them for my ‘04 V8, and ordered them right from Amazon for about $50 each. I looked up the correct Denso p/n for all the sensors, then found them on Amazon. On the V8, the 2 front ones are the same number, but the rears are 2 different numbers because they have different length harnesses, not sure if it’s the same situation for the V6.

The V8 has all oxygen sensors.

The V6 has two air/fuel sensors upstream.

Oxygen sensors are different from air/fuel sensors.

This is the first time I’ve ever heard that. From all the reading/research I had done, I was led to believe that the front sensors are used to determine air/fuel mixture on the V8 as well, but I could be wrong. Where did you get that info from? Either way, I decided to change all 4 since I have 127k on my truck, and have a CEL that I’m hoping will go away in doing so. I haven’t changed them out yet, just ordered the front ones to start with, then after those are installed, I’ll order the rear set at another point.

Pass. side is fairly easy BUT driver side is a real :jaw: so before you start goggle this for info ! I needed 3 different wrench's, cut myself on the brackets & I'm a skinny ol man ! Found mine on Amazon decent price one side is more not sure why .:snacker:eace:
