i get around 10-11mph city driving... but my commute is like 1-2 miles. on the highway i usually get around 17-20mpg depending on how fast i drive and the hills.

the wife drives it to work 50 miles a day highway and some city. average is 17mpg on the V8. worst is 15mpg. i have driven all highway on a trip and got 16mpg running 80 to 85. I dont go off the computer i count the miles and gallons used. that was with stock tires. remember if you are using plus size tires you will be off because the speedo is off. you will drive more miles but it will show less. mine is off 5 mph at 70. so if you drive 1 hr it shows you went 75 miles not 70. unless im wrong on that

265/70/17 are less than 5 off at 70. more like 1-2.

**** the animals in Alaska and drill - or bomb the entire middle east and take the oil.
Lets at least try to do it right first by drilling clean, and buying from the middle east. If all else fails, your plan should be considered. :biggrin2:
I have no disagreement there I love the truck and have no problem filling tanks, hell my wife has a civic and we have been using the runner every time we leave the house. When I had my Sti, it would always sit in the carport and we would take her car!
I am going to set the trip on my GPS this weekend. I am going to drive it around 8 hours, so I'll get a good highway mileage representation.

If your serious - note gas brand and octane w/ or w/o ethanol, temperature, altitude, humidity, speed, wind etc etc
These all have a big impact on MPG.

ha my 01 chevy hd gets around 11-13mpg no matter how i drive it. i love the 4 runner for all around use. i drive it every chance i get to take it from the wife. if she gets a new on in a few years this one is mine. the V8 dosnt drink as much gas as i thought it would. when got it from a friend and when the wife said v8 4runner i said crap redo the gas budget. but it is worth it for this vehicle. i have been really impressed. i need a bigger garage because i dont get rid of good vehicles when they are paid off.
I never pay any attention to the pumps but usually use the same Marathon station. Do they say what is added to the gas on the tags?

Not per se - although Sunoco, Shell, Exxon etc all advertise their"chemical" that makes their gas special
I stay away from junk gas.

Despite many good guesses, none of them provide a valid explanation as to why your truck is drinking like a Kennedy.
I achieved 19.9 mpg on a long highway trip over the Christmas holiday. That is with 265/70/17, 3" lift, Winch bumper, sliders. Plus a trip to pick up the family at Logan Airport. Mostly speed limit driving with occasional speeds up to 75.
I know a 4.7L Tundra owner who gets better mpg than you with a lift and 33's.
Is the truck's computer reporting 10mpg or are you calculating manually? Perhaps someone is stealing your fuel.
It would be worth your while to plug in an OBD-II scanner and have it return instant fuel consumption data while driving. Hopefully some of the tech savvy members could contribute as well.
