Fuel Door Noise

Opened the fuel door yesterday to fill up and the door made a loud "crunching" noise when I opened it. I live in Pittsburgh and my SR5 has been covered in salt on and off again, so I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it (and it's held on to the body of the car with pop-rivets). Also, I noticed when I opened the door that the metal hinge looks extremely fragile. I'm going to shoot a small amount of WD40 on the hinge to see if this helps, but has anyone else had this issue?

Cool, I'm in Pittsburgh too.

I have a 4th gen but the fuel door rubs along the left side when you open it, making a noise. I guess I'll take a poor fuel door over a stuck gas pedal. :redbrick:

Cool, what part of Pittsburgh? I'm in Cranberry.

Anyway, the fuel door is not rubbing against anything, it's really just the hinge itself. There's a small pin going down the length of the hinge and I think that's what's causing the rubbing.
