Fuel door will not stay shut?? HELP!!

I just picked up a 2004 T4R and the fuel door will not stay shut. How can I fix this? Please help!

Did you mess with the kick panel under the steering wheel recently? It’s a manual cable that runs from the lever on that kick panel and that may be snagged. When I take that panel off to do work, that happens. Take a look at the lever too, the cable may be stuck there too

There's only a few things that can cause this issue, the retracting pin at the gas door is stuck in or broken, if it's stuck in it's most likely due to corrsion which means the cable need to be replaced, you may be able to get the cable loose with lubricant but I doubt it, or in the best case the tab on the gas door is bend away from the pin simply bend it back towards the pin, but do it a little at a time until you get it to catch, but before you bend it make sure the pin will retract when the door release is pulled or you will have a problem getting the door opened to put in gas, same issue if you bend the tab to far!

No I just bought the car yesterday.

The little black pin on the right side of the door? Yes it looks as though it is stuck in.

Yes that's the one, are you sure it stuck and not broken off?

Get a good spray lubricant and try to get some to go down into the cable and around the pin to help keep it freed up!

Check the hinges too. Mine was bent from nudging a tree on a tight trail. I was able to bend it back by hand and it fixed it.
