fuel filer and other dumb questions

Hello... I'm new to the forum and I have a few questions.

My husband and I have a 98 4runner, 4 cyl, 2WD. For the last few weeks, the check engine light has been coming on sporadically. We had the 02 sensors checked and they are fine. The vehicle runs very rough with backfire/misfire, until it warms up.

We attempted to change the plugs. Could only do 1 and 4. Cannot get to 2 and 3 because of how the exhaust sits. I know we need to change the rest of the plugs... so how do we take off the exhaust manifold?

Dumb question # 2. Where in the heck is the fuel filter?? (told you it was a dumb question)

Any and all answers welcome.

Hopefully, all my questions won't be as stupid as these 2.

The fuel filter is located under the drivers side passanger seat. Go under the vehicle and pull off the plastic guard that you see there and the filter is right there. As for the plugs, all I had to take off was the air box and the plugs were easy from there. Something you might want to get is a book from Autozone, I can't remember the name but it has a complete break down and rebuild of the vehicle. That helped me out with the plugs. Also don't worry, those were not stupid questions.
