Fuel Filter Brand?

I was planning on changing my fuel filter on my 96 and was wondering from the guys that have changed their filters what brand they went with. If any had problems or others worked out nicely. And if there really is a noticeable difference after a fresh filter from a truck with over 100k miles.

I'm at 226,000 miles and as far as I know it has never been changed. I'll wait until I have a driveability problem before I change it.

careful. I had a wild hair and was going to change mine. it was seized shut and while attempting to remove it created a leak and was unable to take it off. so I ended up having to change out the whole new line to the motor from the filter.

all one day before I was to take a road trip. oh what fun.


although I would have waited cause the inside wasn't bad. but it sure is nice knowing its new now.

I put a WIX filter from NAPA on mine.

I'm at 226,000 miles and as far as I know it has never been changed. I'll wait until I have a driveability problem before I change it.

I went 255k in my Tacoma and never had an issue out of it, they say they are lifetime filters the only reason I changed the filter in my Runner at 230k was chasing down an erratic idle....it wasn't the filter.

So is it more of a peace of mind kinda of thing rather than something that needs to be done. I've seen pics of guys with just over 100k change them and said like a mud poured out of it. My friend changed out his on a 96 land cruiser with I think 243k on it and said it was pretty dirty. So theres has to be some kind of restriction when all that gunk is stuck in the filter.

Changed mine today. NAPA that I had to re-use my mounting bracket. Old filter was not very dirty and was not restricted. 2001 sr5 v6 w/102,*** miles.

Soaked it down with penetrating oil 2 days ago

I used a 19mm open end wrench, a 14mm flare wrench (some call it a line wrench), a 1/4" 10mm shallow socket and a 6" extension.

Loosened the lines while it was still mounted and then removed the mounting nuts.

if you don't have a 14mm flare wrench get one first before you try it or you may be sorry if you round off the fitting nut or twist the metal line.

the preferred brand is Toyota
