03 V8 2wd - 106K miles.
Noticed about 6 months ago after a fill-up the gas guage moved up to full and the mileage counter reset. The next day I started it up and the guage read empty with the low fuel light on and mileage counter was at zero.
After driving about 30 miles the guage slowly moved up to about 1/8 of a tank and the light went off. I removed and replaced the gas cap and the guage again read full but mileage counter stayed at zero until I filled up again then it reset itself like it always does.
It's done this about a dozen times since and I reported it to the dealer during a routine service thinking the gas cap seal was bad but the service writer denied that as a possibility and said it was more likely the guage or sending unit.
So what say you all?
