hey i actuall had that problem it doesnt read rite or it bounces alot with ur fuel gauge i had to get a new floaters put in my tank and all that stuff to get it rite but it comes as the hole entire unit with the floater and all that stuff and now i dont have any problems with it

My Tacoma has the same problem. It's always bouncing on and off the correct fuel level. Sometimes it's at half a tank with 150 miles on the trip. It will stay there until I get around 200 miles then start moving again. ? thats what trip meters are for.

I've had this same problem w/ my '02 4runner when I first bought it. I started having problems about 2-3 months after I bought it. Took it to the dealer, but they said they couldn't find the problem, and everything was working out just fine. 3-4 months later, it happened again and I took it the dealer again, and this time, they changed the floater inside my fuel tank and I haven't had any problems since.

"Empty" but only takes 14.5 gal

Another new member here, I just bought a very cherry '96 4x4 4Runner and have filled it up twice when the fuel gauge indicated empty.

Yet both times it only took 14.5 or so gallons to fill the tank all the way. I had to double-check that the fuel tank capacity is indeed 18.5 gallons.

Anyway...it seems others have similar results w/their fuel gauges? Is this true and if so, what the heck?

Just got a 99' 2.7 Basic Model w/ some options a little over a month ago. I have filled up 4 times here are my amounts:

11.074 ,12.545 ,12.001 and 12.247 gallons. Fuel Light went on??

I have only checked the air filter and it is clean. Wonder if it is due to other issues??

How much gas (in miles) is left when light comes on??

I wonder if I am getting the best fuel consumption that I can
(its only a 2.7 2WD and auto)

Any ideas?????????????Any
