fuel level gauge cable wire?? PLEASE HELP

Hello I just got my 87 Runner. It has an aftermarket Temp gauge in it..and when they put that in I think they disconnected the fuel gauge too for some reason? but I took the dash apart to hook it back up but I can't find the cable anywhere. So could someone please tell me where it traces back to? Or direct me to some pictures? I've been searching this thread and on yotatech and I can't find anything.

fuel gauge is all electronic. 1st gens are notorious for non working fuel gauge. Welcome to the club!

Is there a specific reason why you're assuming a wire problem instead of a sensor problem?

My former Constitutional Law professor once said that the laws tend to run slightly ahead of the attitudes of mainstream society. I think I agree with that statement. If that statement is correct, then laws shape society's attitudes.

The sending unit for the fuel gauge is in the tank. You could have a problem with that, the gauge in the cluster, or the wiring in between. Corrosion on the windings of the sending unit is a common problem.
