I'm using a 4 cyl and i usually get 200 miles per tank, pretty shitty.KClarke said:

If i'm not doing atleast 250-300 miles per tank, I dont know wtf is up.

You should be getting a lot more than that. Since you live in Canada that might have something to do with it. Cold weather generally means worse fuel economy.

ive gotten a best of 11.8 mpg combined city and highway driving. really crappy

I have had any where from about 10 mpg to 20 mpg. It was around 15 the last time I figured it out. Its a V6. And 4wd. But I have the 5 speed manuel tranny so my driving habits can effect it alot

I have not run through a full tank yet on my new to me 4Runner but I have traveled 92 miles and the fuel gauge is halfway between 3/4's and 1/2 mark. Pretty wide open driving so far except for 1 day when I was in 4WD because of snow and 1 unfortunate commute with some serious stop and go driving.
I know the fuel gauge is flaky especially towards the last 1/4 of a tank but I am shooting for 220 to 250 miles per tank.
In this tank I am running a can of Seafoam through. No problems before but figured with 110,500 miles it would not hurt. Seems to run a little better with it in the gas. Also running regular 87 octane. Been listening for pinging but I don't hear any.

Before my AT tires I averaged 19-20 MPG and could get 22 MPG on the highway if I watched my speed.
After my AT tires my averages dropped by approx. 2 MPG.
All of my #'s are hand calculated, fill-up to fill-up. I can't understand how you can track your mileage "by the tank" unless you run it dry and push it to the pump.
Before my AT tires I averaged 19-20 MPG and could get 22 MPG on the highway if I watched my speed.

I find it hard to believe some of you average 20mpg in a 4000lb pig, best ive ever gotten was 17.x 
I havent done any sort of tune up whatsoever and i have 91,xxx miles on her. Last time i checked i was averaging 250 a tank.
** Dont know how most of you are coming up with your #'s but i fill mine up until 1 click on the handle then reset the odometer, drive until fuel light comes on, fill back up until one click on the handle again and divide total miles by # of gallons.

I average probably 17.5 with all city. I don't know how they are getting over 20 either.
Maybe it's just us in SC? :awais:

I find it hard to believe that during winter or really anytime your getting 20-23 mpg. Please tell us how mileage God's???
I get about 240 miles to a tank and I just started using the iPhone app TankBuch, I've only done two fill ups but I'm at 15.98 mpg so far. Maybe I need to run a couple of cans sea foam but even so I think my runner is in pretty good mechanical condition, but I would do just about anything to get an additional 7 mpg.
Maybe I should replace my o2 sensor cause I've done just about everything else I can do to improve my gas mileage and I can't seem to do better than 290 miles to a tank in summer.

What kind of driving is that jrb? I think this probably has the biggest effect on MPG. I think speed plays a part too.

Alot of people that claim 20mpg don't leave a lot of info like:
4 cylinder
5 speed
2wd
all hwy based on one long roadtrip but overall mileage based on the V6 4wd with the auto are simply around 18 in the city and around 22hwy and that's the most common drivetrain combo out there with 3rd gens.
