2.62 for the 87 at a chevron here in So Cal. Haven't yet, but I figure it'll cost me $60 something bucks to filler up. This is my only car, but it isn't quite a daily driver...

I put in 20 gal. this morning and it cost me $57.00 thats ~2.78/gal. Lucky for me my commute is 15 mi round trip, so I can go over two weeks before I have to fill up again.

I'm glad I have a new consulting job now otherwise I would still be filling up my gas tank every 2-3 days (~$50x3times a week = $150 every week!). Nowadays, I only fill-up once every 2-2.5 weeks. Don't get me wrong, I feel the pinch like everyone else, but just not as much anymore. I drove over 50,000 miles last year and spent about $5500 to $6000 on gas alone!
BTW: $2.61/ga for premium & $2.41/ga for regular at Costco in the Chicago area (a few days ago).

how is it per gallon, rdist? I'd do the math myself but I dont know how much of a full tank you mean... so how much per gallon is it that you filled up?

It's finally happened, at least in the area where I'm at. Gas prices in Chicago are over $3/ga. Prices shot up by over $0.35 in just a day or two. Costco had regular & premium for $2.79 & $2.97, respectively. Guess which grade I bought? Most gas station prices are about $2.97 reg and $3.17 prem. Funny thing is that most places in Los Angeles, CA are still under $3/gal (about $2.69 or so). Prices in LA are generally about $0.15 higher than Chicago.
BTW, I had just come back from a short road trip from Chicago to Niagara Falls, NY then Mashatucket, CT (Foxwood Casino). I drove a total of about 1900 miles. Gas prices ranged from $2.59-$2.79/ga for mid-grade. Averaged about 20.3575 MPG (low of 19.754mpg & high of 21.544mpg) with the A/C on the entire time and some aggressive acceleration passes.

It is amazing how quickly the prices have gone up lately. Even so, I am pleased that we don't have to wait in lines to buy it. I am old enough to remember the false fuel crises of the 1970s -- No thanks! (Remember the $5 limits and the odd-even rationing?)
Here in VA, unleaded regular is $2.51 at Wawa or Sheetz. Mid-grade is about $2.60 and the 93-octane stuff sets you back close to $2.70 or so for a gallon!
It is more expensive (by 7 to 10 cents) in Northern Virginia and is about 5 cents less in the rural areas south of Richmond that do not require reformulated gasoline. Jeez.........I hardly ever thought I would see the day when $2.50 a gallon would be the cheapest I could find!!
I put $40 in my 4Runner and it only bought me about 2/3 of a tank. Yikes! I sure am glad that I have a thrifty little Sentra that I can use for my commuter car, so I can leave the 4Runner parked most of the time.
