Fuel Pump Recall

Since my fuel pump was replaced as part of the URD supercharger kit, I decided to file for reimbursement. The shop I used for the install was kind enough to write up an invoice for only the fuel pump install. I tried to file the reimbursement claim through the website today and ran across a stupid glitch. Even if you have the correct file type and size the website will still not upload the file if the file extension is capitalized. It will accept .pdf files but not .PDF files. :wtf:

UPDATE: Wow that was fast! Filed online Monday afternoon, had check in the mailbox Thursday!

I had this recall done on my '15 a couple weeks ago. Everything went fine at first but a couple of days later I had a CEL and the TRAC OFF light was on. Ran the codes and it was a large EVAP leak.

Turns out they either forgot to connect a hose or didn't connect it properly and it popped off. Either way pretty easy fix.

Beware

I brought my 4runner in to get the fuel pump recall done. Figured a 4 hour wait would be ok. At the end of the 4 hours, the service advisor tells me the tech broke the fuel line clips and they have to order replacements. Yesterday the parts came in, and they said they were defective and need to order more parts that are on backorder (1 week). Not sure what is going on, but the video I saw of a fuel pump replacement was pretty straightforward. Still waiting on getting my car back...

I called Aug 3rd to get on the list and I'm still waiting a month later on a callback to get it done.

I'm beginning to think, I'm not in a hurry to get it done Probably works better as is versus after they "fix it."

After yanking a knot in their tail yesterday, I dropped it off last night and picked it up at noon today. It had a 1/4 tank going in and coming back out.

No codes so far but I'll keep watching.

I got mine back. Went under to take a look and they left a couple of tank skid bolt out and the rubber insulation on the tank strap was left hanging and hitting my driveshaft. Going to ask for the bolts and restrap the tank correctly myself. I don't think I got the A team on this one.

Had mine replaced early this week. Dropped it off at 0830 and got it back at 1500.
Drove over 700 miles since, so far so good. And it better be.

Trying to make an appointment to get mine done now. Waiting on a call back to confirm the parts are in stock, and I can get my master tech Todd to perform the work. Sounds like invasive surgery but we survived the air bag fix.

Had mine fuel pump replaced yesterday. They told me that they need 3 hours for their surgery.
Dropped the 4Runner off at 09:30. Got my phone call at 12:30 to pick it up.

Had to drive 300 km home and all is fine so far. Excellent Toyota service: Sault Ste. Marie, Algoma, Ontario

So my 2015 limited 4 runner has just stopped working. The attached is what it sounds like.. could it be the fuel pump recall causing this? Autozone said my alternator and battery are good.

I just got the recall through the mail
2014 4R 29K miles.
keep you guys posted.

Good to hear the feedback on the replacement has been pretty positive.

I got the recall notice as well... I may see what options I have to do the work myself. I don't trust the dealerships unfortunately. :(

Looks like I'm on the list
2019 Trd Off Road

Title

Safety Recall 20TA02 (Interim Notice 20TB02), Multiple Model and Model Years, Vehicle May Stall During Driving at High Speed

Status

Remedy Not Available

The subject vehicles are equipped with a low-pressure fuel pump which may stop operating. If this were to occur, warning lights and messages may be displayed on the instrument panel, and the engine may run rough. This may result in a vehicle stall, and the vehicle may be unable to be restarted. If a vehicle stall occurs while driving at higher speeds, this could increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Toyota is currently investigating this issue and will be developing a remedy. When the remedy is available, it will be free of charge to vehicle owners.

mine was just added 2019 ORP but no remedy yet. what does that mean?

Did you get an email, or a letter?
Does your VIN show up as affected on this site:?
Lookup Safety Recalls & Service Campaigns

I have a 2018 ORP and the article implies mine is affected but it doesn’t show up on the recall site.

Edit:
I believe this is the latest Toyota recall info.
Although an earlier release said only production dates of 2018 and 2019s from June 2018 thru Jan 2019 were affected.

got mine scheduled, they said they would have to order parts, but the previous owner was already on the waiting list. Go in right before the new year for the fuel pump and air bag re call.

Interesting to see how different everybody’s experience has been. A few months after receiving the letter I called the dealership, was told parts needed to be ordered and they would schedule an appointment when they had the parts. 3 weeks later they called back and said it was go time. I scheduled an appointment for the next week. Dropped it off with an almost empty tank and was told it would be a 3 hour wait. Job was done in 2 hrs and 15 mins.
