So I was replacing the fuel pump on my 92 4Runner. I had done it once before a while ago, but my buddy was the one really doing everything and I was just watching and learning. I don't know how we did it exactly, but it went smoothly.
Yesterday I dove in to replacing my fuel pump as a spur of the moment thing, as the truck had been sitting dead for a while. Everything was going good, but when I finally got to pulling out the whole fuel pump assembly, it was took long to just come out. So I had to pull the tank. The only thing to undo were two hoses going up towards the fuel door.
I got the pump and strainer out and changed, then the fun came. I went about putting it all back together and it was going good. Then I realized that I hadn't put those two hoses back on. I tried and tried, but they were just too stiff and they seemed to only be long enough to slip back over the nipple when the tank was fully up. I struggled forever trying to get the hoses back on, but it just didn't work. I tried to recreate the position the fuel tank was in I first took the hose off, but no matter what I did I couldn't get it on.
After a good while of frustration I called it a night and bolted everything back up and left the hoses as they were. I have no idea how to go about putting it back on! There is a little hatch under the back seat on the passenger side that looks down on the tank, but is good 6in from where the hoses are.
I have no idea what to do!!! Any suggestions! Thanks in advance for the responses, and reading this huge post!
