Fuel Pump?

I ended up pulling the filler hose off first and siphoning through there. 11 gallons total, only spilled about a pint.
After all that, it took some spinning to get the lines filled and pressure up again, but when it caught, it coughed twice and then settled into a smooth idle. Took it for a dozen laps both ways around the circle drive, and while it will never get pole position out of a NASCAR qualifier, I couldn't get it to hiccup at all. Going to do a test drive to a good dinner somewhere in town after I get cleaned up.
The smaller hose that parallels the filler, which I'm assuming is a vapor return, was rotten, crumbling and split, though. Anybody know the size of that one? Definitely bigger than the 5/16 I had on hand. I almost pulled it off to take to the parts store, but I figured I might as well leave it on there for whatever good it might be doing in that condition. Waiting to put the skid plate back since I'll have to drop the tank again to replace it. (My "off roading" mostly consists of going around the guy who leases the grazing rights here when he parks on the driveway, so the worst thing hitting my undercarriage is the occasional bull nettle or thistle the cattle didn't eat.)
And my cousin who hauled it out here is going to buy the old Focus I've "been meaning to fix up as a spare" as soon as I get all the stuff I've been storing in it out, so I'm sure the landlord will be happy to see that sort-of-running junker go away. I'll miss my convenient outdoor camping gear and tool storage, though.
