I seafoam right before I do an oil change. When that tank runs out, I use STP in my next fill up.

Lucas only for me. And only chevron 89 with the occasional 91 fill ups

mehh, just use Top Tier gasoline (stay away from Costco/Sam/discount gas), change the oil (5K or more). I use Mobile1 every 5K only b/c I don't drive my truck very often. I change my oil about 1 a year. I used to add Shell VPower fuel system cleaner. Haven't used it in a while (more than 1 year). Can't find it anywhere. Anyway, I still get the same mileage and engine is smooth.

I work at a dealership and they swear by the BG fuel system cleaner and fuel additive, I think seafoam works equally as well and it's $20 vs $145 service

BP, Shell or Chevron gasolines are as good of cleaners as any Lucas or stp product. The "cleaners" added to the fuel post-refinery (techron, nitrogen enriched, v power) are all just marketing ploys, but are just as effective as the others. However, those brands are like Smirnoff compared to moonshine, way cleaner from the start. Your engine does not require fuel over 87 octane and utilizing a higher octane, even every once in a while, does no more to clean your engine than additives. It will only reduce engine knock, which shouldn't be happen to a well maintained engine.
But yeah seafoam the heck out of it before you change the oil. Can't claim that it's cleaned out my engine. But it will clean residue from the fuel system, and keep particulates from entering the engine in the first place, since it's almost impossible to replace a fuel filter.
Basically put clean stuff in, keep the fuel system clean, and you'll be golden.

Lol. Costco does use Top Tier fuel. Not sure about all Costcos, but the one I use blends their own additives on sight and uses more cleaners than most every other brand.
Personally i believe if you use quality fuel you really never need to use a cleaner, but ut is good insurance to do it once a year.

Didn't know that (about some costcos). When I used Sam's/Giant/Sheetz, my MPGs would go off a cliff.
Agree 100% on quality fuels and using it from time to time. Will not hurt using it, but I wouldn't loose sleep if you don't.

+1 here regarding good quality gas at Costco. Costco has the best gas in our area, and they take pains to make sure their tanks are always clean.

Higher octane gas may not make any extra hp, but engine definitely runs smoother. Higher octane gas usually also has lower transmix and hence is purer. Look it up.

This. I get shit MPG either way, doesnt run any noticeably different with 91 over 87. I still throw a fuel system clean every oil change just to do it. Help or not, i feel better about it.

Seafoam every 10k in my oil, fuel and vacuum line. I always see that MPG improvement and a gradual decline until the next time I do it.

I've been trying to figure out whether I have bad 02 sensors or bad cats. Seems abut once every 2 months I get the 0430 code. I reset it by disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes. Then it goes away but usually comes back within a day or two. I do the reset once or twice more then I fill it up with 91 octane and throw some seafoam in it. Only then does the cel stay off for a couple of months. MPG has gone to hell doing this though. So far it has worked exactly this way twice. Could be a coincidence I guess but I am trying to rule everything out because I refuse to spend the stupid amount of money they want to replace the cats....especially considering I live somewhere where smog testing is not done.
