Full Size Blind Spot Mirrors

Has anybody had experience with the full-size blind spot mirrors that cover the entire exterior mirrors on our 4Runners (with some sort of adhesive tape)? I've seen them in Performance Products and just ordered some from

I'd like to hear your opinions if you've used them. If they stink, then I'll cancel my order now!
If nobody has experience with them (minus those little 2" adhesive disc mirrors) I'll let you know and post some pics after I install them on my '05 V8 Sport.

That's exactly what I use on all vehicles -- always the first mod I make. Best $2.00 you'll ever spend.
 
I've tried those myself. It seems like I have to re-focus on that mirror every time I look at it. This seemed like a more fluid option--same concept, but your entire mirror does what that little one does, without a fish eye effect.

Those look great. If they work as advertised, I'll cough up the cash in a heart beat. I can't wait to hear your assessment of them.
 
I know a lot of people have those 2" discs. Ship date on the full size ones will be 1 Jul. I'll post pics/review when I receive them. :)
 
I am sure that the 4runner's exterior mirrors can accomodate 3" convex mirrors. I use 3" convex mirrors on both of my exterior mirrors. Love them to death!! (For my eyes, 2" is just too small, especially at night.)
 
That was my same problem with the 2" mirrors--too small for that "quick glance" to see what I needed to see. I'm thinking that most people would just get the driver's side mirror @ $30, but I've ordered both. My only concern if the heated mirrors will still work a bit through the gap/tape. Then again, I've never really needed heated mirrors in snow/ice on any of my vehicles even though I've lived in the North all my life.

bryancos ~ Thanks for the pic... The 2" should work fine for me.... Driving the Garden State Pky is a thrill evey damn time you have to change lanes! The new runner really has a nasty blind spot on the drivers side. Frankly I'm very carefull changing lanes, but the same can't be said of my dear wife!

Did you buy them online... if so where?

I like that mirror setting. My only problem is that my wife occassionally will drive the 4Runner and (smartly) the first thing she does is adjust the mirrors to her liking. It drives me nutz as it is....I could imagine having to recalubrate my mirrors to these standards every time. But for those of you who are blessed with having a one-driver-only vehicle, the above recommendation seems like one that would help!
 
Most folks have their mirrors adjusted so that part of the vehicle is visible.. But when's the last time you ran into yourself??? The best article I found on correctly adjusting rear view mirrors is from the National Motorists Association:

Ideally, as a passing vehicle leaves your field of view in the center windshiled mirror, it will immediately appear in either of the side mirrors. I still feel that blind spotmirrors are very useful for E X P A N D I N G the field of view, and are also helpful when parking.

Mafster: Just pull the fuse for the mirror control Or install a hidden bypass switch to deter her. :) I've found that if something is too complicated, they'll give up.

Hey everyone. I find it easy to get rid of your blind spot without an extra mirror by turning the driver side mirror out so you can't see the side of your car. If you turn it out enough you can see most of the lane to your left. Use it along with the rearview and you are set.

I can see a new mod post starting to simmer...."Spouse (denial) mirror mod"....and as long as I keep this forum hidden from her there might never be a mod to counter that one. :D
Either way, those full size mirrors are in the mail.
 
In reading a few posts on here on this topic, and from my experience in driving trucks, etc., I have to say that the best way to adjust the mirror is specifically for the blind spots. Forget about seeing the vehicle yer driving, as a little movement of your head will bring this in. As someone said "They've never seen where they've run into themselves" LOLOLOL too true.

Adjust the mirrors for the blind spots on both sides, & you don't really need the convex jobbers! Truth.
