so put everything back together after the cb install a few days ago and noticed my clock wasn't working, figuring i had just forgotten to plug it in i pulled it all back apart, well i was right i had forgotten to plug it in, but upon pulling it all part i couldn't find the plug and just for the heck of it i plugged the rear window plug into the clock and the clock worked then i pulled the plug from the clock and put it into the rear window switch and that worked.....so i'm missing a plug somewhere and for the life of me i can't find it and what's even worse i'm not sure i'm looking for a braid coming from the front or the back now....anyone know where the clock plug runs from and where the rear hatch window pplug runs from?

I will pull my dash tomorrow and take some pics. I just had it all apart today to wire a switch for my power antenna. If I have time in the morning I will post some pictures for you. They are all bundled together though, so I think you should just pull it back apart and poke around with a nice bright flashlight and I'm sure it will present itself.
 
I recall the same issue when i did my cb. I was sure i was missing a plug and even now i think theres an open connector but everything works properly.
 
I remember there being an empty spot near the clock that you could plug the connector into. Idk why its there but some members were saying they had non functioning clocks and found that an issue. Worth a check
 
I swear by your title I thought your were going to say you have had another tree fall on your 4runner.

I swear there are more connectors in the dash then are utilized.
 
If I remember correctly all of those wires for the top connectors should lead to a them all being wrapped together, it comes from the right side. Just grab it and pull it out a little. I'm sure you'd find it. Plus a nice maglite might help.

I remember the first time I took my dash apart to put in a cd player. I put my clock plug into that un-needed spot and realized it didn't work. It took some research to figure the problem out.

this i what i did... i plugged it into the "dead spot" which actually looks like the back of the power window switch, but is actually nothing....how madding was that, i removed everything, stereo,climate control, ect , ect, thinking the radio pushed/pulled it back and down somewhere....typical guy thinking though, if there's a hole it needs a plug.....::moon::boink:

how/where did you wire the switch for your power antenna?
 
Ahhhhhhahaha you're too funny! Ya know what?? The factory actually did that ti mine. I bought it off the original owner and he said it had never worked since day one. And when I installed my cb I plugged it back into the clock and voila it works now!
 
Awesome, I love when its a simple little fox like this. I had mine apart for a while while soldering my clock, and I couldn't figure out why my turn signals stopped working all of a sudden. Hazards weren't plugged in....:banghead:this reminds me, I still haven't soldered that clock...

Glad it was something simple though.
 
I've been doing research on putting a mirror with compass and temperature read out in my 4Runner. From my reading and a look under my hood, 1999 4Runners came with a temp sensor. Could that be the extra plug? Do you guys have the climate control with the temp read out? Just a guess that I'll put out there.

I realize it is likely a rather straight-forward procedure, but a detailed pictorial write-up would still prove helpful nonetheless...

Ok well it is raining tonight, so I will try to get something posted up tomorrow night hopefully. Just noticed I have a headlight bulb out, so gotta deal with that before I can get back to "playing" with my toys!
