Fuse blows in Drive

I hate electrical problems. My '99 blows a 10 amp dash fuse when I place the truck in Drive. Also had a VSS P0500 OBD II failure code. swapped out the VSS sensor, no help. Dash gauges and indicators are out along with AC blower motor (which has its own fuse that is not blown). I hate to tear out the dash on a electrical short witch hunt. Maybe the neutral safety switch? I dunno.

Did you perform the FSM diagnostics for the speedometer cable, an open or short in speed signal circuit and/or the ECM (the 3 problem areas associated with a p0500)?

There was a short in my Nuetral safety switch, which blew the fuse. When the fuse blew it took out the dash and that must have triggered the po500. Evertything is working now minus my back-up lights & starting in gear.
