Fuses problem

Hey guys got a 2002 4 runner my ecu-ig fuse keeps blowing any clues to what it is?

A short or abnormally large draw somewhere. Have you done any modding recently?

No mods, just put in all new brake lights and that's it.

So had the truck at shop , they tried check with the scope and they said my computer is fried? Is it hard to replace?

Try disconnecting the back door ECU located in the tailgate. That fuse feeds both body computers. If your lucky, there might just be a shorted or grounded wire in the boot between the rear hatch and the body. I would disconnect it, replace the fuse, and turn the ignition on to see if it still pops.

Maybe I'm missing something but disconnecting the back ECU will not take a short in its feed out of play. The fuse would still blow with the ECU connected or not (unless the short involves a wire that is only energized when the ECU is present, and I don't think there are too many of those.)

Dope! Your right, if the wire is abraded it will still blow the fuse. The easiest way then is to cut the Ignition wire to the back door ECU. It's a yellow wire, I believe you can get it in the drivers door sill.

My back door ECU would randomly roll the back window down on its own so I put a switch in the dash for the 24v feed to it. That way I could kill power to it.

The last sign in for OP was 02-18-12. The OP was looking to replacing the ECM. Maybe that worked, or he gave up. The OP didn't bother updating this forum post.
