Several months ago I bought the Toytec Ultimate Lift with Bilstein rear shocks. I was somewhat happy with the outcome, but frustrated with the stiff ride - especially over speed bumps and large pot holes. I also noticed handling issues, where the car would wander at high speeds.
After the suspension settled it became obvious that the vehicle was slightly higher in the front. According to Toytec, the front coils should come pre-set at 2.5" total lift, but I'm positive they understated that number. I should have measured more carefully when first lifting the vehicle, but I figured 2.5" was the perfect amount, which is why Toytec set them that way from their warehouse. WRONG! Yesterday I lowered the front coils and all the problems that I mentioned above are now gone. The car now takes bumps and potholes with ease, and it handles perfectly.
I sometimes rest the driver side door on some shelves in my garage when I get out, and over time it has started to leave scuffs on the external plastic door trim. (hardly noticeable and no big deal to me) Check out the distance between the two scuffs. The top scuff is before the lift and the bottom one is afterward.
After everything was said and done, lowering the front 1/4" made all my problems disappear.
Easy fix but pretty lame on Toytec's part.
