Did zimmerman have a history of being a bigot? I have not done enough reading on his history. My brief understanding is that he is actually a nice helpful guy around his neighborhood.

Not enough for the prosecutor to prove intent to kill based on race. Did you see those tweets? They really made me pretty sick. I understand if you're angry and think this is racially motivated, but posting pictures of you with guns threatening to kill Z is really only furthering the problem and making you look dumb... :redbrick:

Also, FWIW I have personally seen tweets and other social media posts like this used to to impeach witnesses. Remember everything you post can be dug up when you don't want it to be...

George Zimmerman gave a scathing review of the Sanford Police Department and accused its chief of engaging in a cover-up during a public meeting in January 2011. Zimmerman's anger stemmed from the case of Sherman Ware, a black homeless man who was beaten by the son of a white police lieutenant.

The racial tones of this trial were started by the media and our current administration. Its tragic that he was ever charged with a crime. What the DOJ will try to do to him will be equally tragic

Wow, interesting discussion, took a while to read through and just wanted to make a few observations.
I'd agree none of us know as much as the jury but from what I saw the only racial hatred highlighted by testimony in the trial was when TM referred to GZ as a "creepy-a$$ cracker".
Following standard mainstream media form, USA Today then published an article where they "creatively" edited the testimony to the tamer "creepy man".
Shame on USA Today, NBC, and most other media sources that frequently kick the hornet's nest by editing and blatantly distorting the news.
I think there's a huge double standard in that there is a vitriolic backlash for any white person to use the N-word (a word I would never use), yet most media didn't even bother to report TM's use of the racially charged term "cracker" for a white person.
Also, the only reason Barry even cares about this case is if he can use it to further push his anti-2nd amendment agenda...

Exactly. From now reading on Zimmerman's past, he was a decent guy looking after his neighborhood. He did NOT show any signs of bigotry prior to the Trayvon shooting.

Of course, there are folks like [MENTION=55551]ndcent[/MENTION] who has white guilt and can't stand the "chipmunk" Zimmerman...and then put everything wrong in this world on this case. That's just being ignorant IMHO. Zimmerman was no friend of the Sanford police and he helped a lot of folks, yes even the minority folks!

Zimmerman did NOT racially profile Trayvon. Trayvon apparently racially profiled Zimmerman, as per "Precious."

All they got is Zimmerman saying "these punks always get away."

THESE as in plural, meaning any race.

Fact: Zimmerman when describing people to non emerg. opps only uses the word black when the opp says black, white, or Hispanic.

Fact: when no choice was given he says African American when describing a black person.

Fact: Trayvon calls Zimmerman a creepy ass cracker.

Fact: Trayvon calls Zimmerman the "N" word.

The Facebook entry is from Friday, before the Zimmerman verdict of “not guilty” was delivered.

Are we blinded about why Trayvon was at his dad’s house in the first place, and why he wasn’t at home at the time he was shot? Please think logically and not racially.”

Poor Mr. Breaux. He is finding out that hard way the consequences of thinking for oneself. By straying from the dominant narrative about Trayvon Martin — an innocent teenager shot by a racist gun nut — Mr. Breaux is experiencing a backlash from the guardians of groupthink.

In answer to Mr. Breaux’s thoughtful questions, the reason the “black leadership” constantly plays the victim card is because that’s how their constituents want to be seen. Being actual victims of racism apparently isn’t enough for many in the black community. The narrative must be stretched to the breaking point in order to include members of the community who create victims as well. This sort of mindless solidarity unites the community and reinforces the notion that the world is against them and that safety is to be found only in unanimity of thought and opinion.

Mr. Breaux’s major sin appears to be that his individualism embarrassed his fellow Norfolk NAACP members. By their lights, Mr. Breaux may indeed have committed a serious enough breach to deserve removal or forced resignation. But stepping back and viewing his comments in context, the agitation for Breaux’s scalp says a lot more about his detractors than it does about one thoughtful rebel."

I just wish that Obama would show the same enthusiasm in the wrongful deaths of Benghazi as he did in this Zimmerman case! Were the brave Navy SEALs less important than Trayvon? Was U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens less important also? Well, I guess Trayvon was afterall Obama's long lost son! "The death of Trayvon Martin was a tragedy. Not just for his family, or for any one community, but for America," Mr Obama said. Benghazi was nothing compared to this NATIONAL tragedy!! Can you blame him?

As for guilt...you're clearly in guilt. Re-read your posts. Just FYI, here are more facts:

1. (as noted above) lead a protest against white Sanford police officers for beating a black homeless man and eventually lead to the resignation of the sanford police chief at the time.
2. mentored young black children.
3. took a black women to his prom.
4. helped protect his community which was 20% black.

Yeah that "chipmunk" Zimmerman is definitely a clear cut racist! Crap, only a white-guilted out of his mind ( [MENTION=55551]ndcent[/MENTION] ) would come to that conclusion!

Good job on staying "neutral"....

One of the burglaries, by the way, was a home invasion crime, with the resident hiding upstairs with her baby; Zimmerman became the official Neighborhood Watch captain after this burglary and the Zimmermans offered their home as shelter if she ever felt afraid.

The rules in civil court are different than criminal. If the DOJ does decide to bring charges in civil court, all the bad stuff in Trayvon's background will come out. Trayvon's family attorney went down first thing and sealed his school records. Kids just don't get a 9 day suspension unless they have problems. Trayvon's text messages, his facebook page describing drug purchases and guns, it will all be out there.

The best thing that could happen for Trayvon's family is just let Trayvon RIP and his family heal from this the best they can. Dragging his family through another trial would just not be right.

This is why Zimmerman's lawyers are so confident. They have the upper hand...and it sounds like Zimmerman's lawyers may fire back at some of the media and others who slanted him. So, while Zimmerman may be a hermit from now on, if the other side don't let it go, Zimmerman will be a rich hermit!

It's a shame two lives were drastically altered,even with Zimmerman not being found guilty his life will never be the same and he is now a prisoner of public opinion and is going to have to stay out of the public light for a while.

My take on the thing is Zimmerman went looking for trouble and found it and had to defend himself and all this could have been avoided if he just called the police.

Being born an American PERIOD is a blessing. I was rocking my son to sleep last night thinking about how innocent kids his age are. They dont care what color someone is and don't associate stereotypes with physical appearance. Then, we adults, the media, and popular culture pass all of this racial BS on to them. All sides are perpetuating this and we as a country and culture should be ashamed of ourselves. If we REALLY wanted this crap to end, we'd stop classifying ourselves by skin color. Stop and think...... Isn't it all a little archaic? It's 2013 for God's sake! I dread the day i have to sit down and explain all this racial stupidity to him. I'm so sick of this $hit.
