Galaxy s7 edge vs iPhone 7 plus

Well as the title implies who uses what? I've had several androids over the years and switched to iPhone a couple years ago. I currently have a 6s plus and like it for it's simplicity and ease of use compared to androids I used to have (3+ yrs ago). The processing speed I feel is very fast with the iPhone but with recent storage space problems many iPhones have been having I've pretty much had it with this phone. What appeals to me with the galaxy is the slot for an extra Sd card. So I've looked at the stats for both phones and both seem pretty awesome.
So what are your experiences with newer androids and pros and cons in your book?

I switched over from apple 3 years ago and every time I pick up her phone I'm glad I did - Verizon will let you try a phone for a week maybe that'll help but my vote is s7 all the way

I have the regular S7. Camera low light performance is very good. I'm running a 200gb Micro SD. Plenty of storage. It's the best phone I have owned. Wife and I have each dropped our phones a few times. No problems. We are running a protective case with moderate protection. I also use my phone's Bluetooth to transfer data. I also use a Bluetooth OBD Link for vehicle troubleshooting. Everything just works. No experience with the Edge.

Iphones do not perform as well using a cellphone booster. I have a few boosters for use in the mountains. Iphones do not get the same benefit as all Motorola's and Samsung S5 and up.

If you were looking at the S7 I would wait for the Samsung S8 or S8+. they will be out soon and look to be great phones.

I have a track record of buying "last years model" to save myself some money. As awesome as the s8 will be the s7 is still a great phone from what I gather and will fulfill my needs.

I made the switch from the galaxy to the iPhone 6 and I miss my galaxy. Plus the iPhone 7 doesn't even have a headphone jack.

What are you using?

I'm using a Note 4. I like it because it's a Developer Edition. It's rooted with a custom ROM, Full add block in apps and the browser and it has a removable battery. I just put in a new battery last month and it works great.

If it was to die I would replace it with a S8+. I like a big screen. The S7 is a great phone. I use one for work.

At Christmas time Verizon had $400 off most smartphones including the S7/S7 Edge. Probably going to see something similar as the S8 comes out.

Correct me if I am wrong but Samsung does NOT allow for Adoptive Storage. SD storage is not nearly as useful as you think without Adoptive Storage.

Yes I am clearly swayed towards the Samsung but maybe if someone would chime in with some experiences as to why they like their iPhone over an android maybe I would change my mind.

Want to go cheap? Not so sure of that, cheaper than a 7+ yes but not necessarily cheap. I've had my 6s+ for a while now and have had 0 issues until recently. The reading I've done brings no permanent solutions. Best way to describe is a parasitic draw of my storage space, it's got me thinking why would I want a phone that requires constant upkeep.

The research Ive done tells me it does allow for additional Sd cards. That's pretty appealing to me.

So do you have anything to contribute or just want to flame me considering something "cheap"?

There are many reasons why iPhone is better than Android. Too much for me to write. Just quick reminders: better resale value, better security, better audio via headphones, much better app selection (and quality), better gameplay (60 fps), longer software support, better customer service, better 3rd party support, better displays (arguably on par with Samsung AMOLED), way better processors (thus more futureproof), easily top 3 cameras, and did i say security and privacy?

Not sure what "storage" issues you have with your old iPhone. You ran out of storage? If so, then it is because you went cheap and bought the lower end iPhone. You can either use iCloud, Google cloud, etc.. The new Apple betas use a different file system which MAY help you save a tiny bit of space...which should come as official update next few weeks.

This is why when i buy iPhones, i never go cheap and think that i will never need storage. Apple Music is RUMORED to be going to HD music (big files) in near future...so that's something to consider if you went back to iPhone.

SD card in general on Android is fairly useless. Marketing gimmick to say the least. Very few games allow for SD storage...certainly not the big games. Unstable, insecure, and volatile describe SD cards well. Yes, SD card allows for you to store photos and videos on it...but very few (if at all) apps on it basically.

Google: Adoptive Storage. Been available since Android 6.0 i think. It is a decent idea IF you have an expensive SD card to use. But it cannot be transferred to a new phone. The problem here is that none of the big Android players allow for this, including Samsung.

Apple appears to be moving in that direction. Some IPhones develop memory leaks. Unknown if it's a software issue or hardware. Apple uses multiple vendors for internal components.

I save all pics/video to external Micro SD. Save on board phone memory for apps. Adoptive storage sounds nice. The hard core people that flash custom roms probably find it useful. I usually carry around 100gb of stuff on the external memory.

Apple and Samsung usually leap frog each other with camera tech. Without competition mobile cameras would not be nearly as good.

I prefer Android Bluetooth for its flexibility.

Reliability for Android/Samsung is better? That's laughable. Remind me...what material is Samsung HOME button made of? Sapphire? Nope. Glass? Nope. Cheap ass plastic? YES! How many "water-resistant" Samsung has miserably failed water testings by 3rd party?

I can go on and on.

Memory leaks on iPhone? That's just funny!!! You talk about this as a Samsung / Android user?!! Samsung in particular is famous for memory mis-management and major leaks!! In fact, there is still leaks even after "fixes."

See video above (2:25 time; round 2 of video)...the mighty Note 7 (and every darn Android phone) can't hold more than a few (1 or 2) apps in its memory before shutting down the apps!! Great memory management there...despite tons of RAM! :frusty:

7+ just destroys Pixel and pretty much every Android device out there...regardless of RAM. Despite RAM disadvantage, iPhones generally destroys Android even in the "multi-tasking" aspect.

Crashing apps, overheating and headphone malfunctions are the most common issues among iPhone users. Crashing apps...sure, but i question that because Android apps are usually ports from iOS. Headphone malfunction...you mean that iPhone 7 has no 3.5mm jack?! Well, guilty. Well, some morons did drill into their iPhone 7 to make a 3.5mm jack....

Overheating...you mean like Note 7? :infidel:

I know about the memory leak from Friends and family. IPhone 5s and 6. Sometimes the repair is complete reset. Others have no known repair. I personally think it's corrupted apps. However, fulll reset does not always repair the problem. None are phones that belong to me.

If the OP wants to stay Iphone great. However, the latest and greatest means no headphone jack. There are some memory expansion modules for the iPhone. Not an elegant solution.

If going back to Android I recommend SanDisk micro SD.

Yeah, i know a cousin of a friend of a former roommate who once sold me this car to a brother of a friend of mine that had a memory leak on an iPhone....

Your S7 does not have memory leak problem? LOL

Oh no...no headphone jack!! Oh the horror...oh wait, there is an adaptor that works perfectly well that is included with every iPhone sold.

Instead of memory expansion packs...just buy one with higher storage. My 7+ has super fast super reliable 256GB storage. And unlike Android, Apple supports their devices at least 4-5 years, which is how long i plan to keep mine...so spending a little more for storage every 3-5 years is a decent investment in electronic world.
