Garmin Streetpilot c340

Anyone heard of this product? Is it a big change from c330?
TigerGPS.com says the product will be shipped from them on or later Aug. 12th. Does anybody have any experience with TigerGPS?

I have an 05 4R SE V8 with JBL 6 disc changer. Do you have any suggestions for a navigation system that goes with my vehicle.

i called garmin on monday and waited 30 min to talk to someone... and i am glad i did all that is different is live traffic and text to speech ie turn right in 200 feet onto baltimore street instead of turn right in 200 feet. great company. i have had their products for years i started out with a garmin 3. solid stuff.

The C330 has a good price on Amazon now. I just order a C340 after using the C330 because I like the traffic update feature. Note: using it will require another part, the GTM-10 at about $180.

I LOVED the C330--very easy and fast to use!

Thanks for the information. Where did you place an order for c340 and for how much.
I tried to order for c340 at Amazon.com. Found sellers who advertized the price around $270 for c340. It was unbelievable. I placed an order only to find that the seller was not able to process my credit card payment. Please note that the seller was not Amazon but another party thro Amazon.com.

tigergps.com sells c340 for $670. They said that they would ship around Aug. 12th, then postponed to Aug. 17th and currently it is 'end of August'. That is surely frustrating, more so when I am planning a long trip from MO to VA.

Please note that c340 has a traffic update feature, and needs GTM-10 @ $180 as you have mentioned, on top of this there is a monthly subscription we got to pay (probably)

I am so frustrated that I am planning to go c330 way.

I'd recommend the c330 unless you really need that traffic update feature. With the additional module that's required, plus the monthly subscription, it seems overhyped to me. I'm a satisfied c330 owner, and did a TON of research before buying that model. A few weeks after purchasing it Garmin announced the c340 and I was ticked until I saw what little it offered over the c330 - if I had to make the purchase decision again I'd make the same one.

Not to mention that with the detour feature that the c330 has, bypassing traffic problems is a cinch.

hi everyone! im new to the forum, relatively. hahaha... but what is "live traffic"? it tells you where there are traffic jams? or just what streets are coming up? im thinking of getting a gps too. the street pilot seems to be a good choice.

The C340 also has 1 million more POI (points of interest)=6 million in it compared to the C330 (5 million). It announces turns by the street name instead of "right turn 300 ft ahead" it will say "turn on Jones Ave. in 300 ft". The traffic detour feature is nice, and yes it requires an optional module to use it, though I hear it comes with a one year subscription for free.
I pre-ordered mine through www.getfeetwet.com for $584, about $100 less than Amazon is selling it and the best deal I could find from a reputable distributor.

Live traffic is a broadcast that your GPS receives and works with the computer in the GPS to warn you of upcoming traffic problems and, by your choice, re-route you around them before you even get close to a delay. Most larger cities have it in place. It requires an additional antenna unit ($170) and a subscription (free for the 1st year) to the service.

And a warning to all using Amazon's Marketplace for electronics. There are serious scammers that use it, posing as legit sellers. I think they've hijacked their positive feedback posts.

If you try to purchase their product Amazon will refund you the money because the sellers credit card/payment account isn't set up. Then the seller will ask you to send the payment using Western Union, either to them or Amazon. They'll send you FAKE Amazon.com looking messages and emails too.

PLEASE do not get taken! I caught on to their scam immediately, but they are good. They send "trust me" emails that made me laugh. You won't lose any money if you only use Amazon's Marketplace--only if you send it to them not using Amazon.com payment system.
