Garmin Virb or Go Pro3

I want to get one of the "Action Camera" for my Death Valley trip. I couldn't decide to go with Garmin Virb or Go Pro3. Currently, I am leaning toward the Go Pro3.

Please help me to choose with your experiences with them.

I've got the go pro so ill only speak to that. clear picture, audio is decent, dependent on what you use it for. and its incredibly easy to use. if you're interested in editing, theres a ton of software out there for them, and inside the case, its tough as nails. if you are willing to spend for a high quality camera, the go pro is the way to go, IMO

yeah you can, I've never gotten too deep into editing but from my experiences it isn't too hard to do at all. i use mine on a helmet mount when i ride my quad, and you can't hear any wind noise because of the case for it

ive got the hero2 hd, im pretty sure I can turn the mic off.
but, I wouldn't want to, it doesn't really pick up the wind noise, due to the water proof case.

i don't know if the hero2 is still available, but ive read a lot of people prefer them over the 3 for motorsports videos.
you might want to check into that.

that said, i love my HD2.

i got the 3+, two of them LoL and one hero 2. i filmed this with it and first time video editing. so you can get a idea. ALSO note, i have to upload in a lower resolution because my 5 minute video was 1.6gb!

i would get the 3+, higher resolution, smaller and latest one.

fyi: top and side camera is gph3+, one in jeep is gph2

I decided to go with the Go Pro3. After viewing many videos, I like the Go Pro3 better. Thank you for all your advise.

I am set to get the GoPro but I have one question:

- Can the camera be charge using USB during the video capturing? I want to mount it in my car and use my car charger to charge the camera while it is videotaping. I read that the battery only last couple hrs with wifi on.

I have a hero 2 and it's awesome. Never let me down. I dropped it off the top of my t4r and it didn't even scratch (was in case). GET IT!

How are you liking the Hero3? I've read pretty bad reviews on it. Won't turn on, freezes, wifi won't connect etc.

Just curious. The Hero3 (not the +) Black Edition, incl wifi remote and suction cup mount is on sale for $319 CDN. Debating it because of the bad reviews. I thought these guys were the best until looking into it. The new Hero3+ is $349 (silver) and the black edition is a whopping $449.

I got the GoPro 3 Silver and have been tested it out for the last couple days. I like it. The videos looked good in Medium mode. Wide Mode had lot of "fish eyes" look.

I need to get the suction cup mount for the windshield. It's only $10 on Amazon.

You can view the videos setup via your smartphone (I used the Ipod). The video has 3-4 seconds delay.

Freezing issue... I read on the web. Freezing issue was due to the SDXD 64g card. I used 32g SDHC no problem at all. It seem like the GoPro 3 couldn't support SDXD card.

Overall, I am very happy with it.
