gas guzzler??

I just received a 95 T4R from my grandmother. It has been garage kept and only has 30000 miles on it. The thing eats gas though. My husband drives an hour and a half to work every day and it takes little over half a tank a day. My mom mentioned maybe something was wrong with it. What do you all think?

what is the mpg? the olderones get about 15-18 see if it is anyhting aound there.

Half a tank a day for an hour and a half, would depend on the speed. I went to san diego (93 miles away) in barely over an hour because I went 90, and there and back took almost half a tank. So if 2 and a half hours takes almost half a tank then 3 hours round trip probably would too. I wouldn't worry too much bout it. Just do some calculations on some paper of how many miles you get on a full tank, then divide it by how many gallons it holds.

Thanks for all of your responses. We figured it was getting about 16 mpg. Someone had mentioned maybe some sort of oxygen sensor was out. If this is the true mpg, I'll probably have to sell it because we are spending $600 a month on gas.

Ouch. Might need to get a car for that 35mpg lol. I think the escape hybrid gets 35 or 36 mpg, in case you wanted to still own a small suv.

Might also try taking the perf button off on the trans if it is auto. Also if you have a high altitude "don't know your location" your air fuel mixture might be off if the thing only has 30K on it. It might need a fuel system cleaning new air and fuel filters and maybe run about a gallon of fuel injector cleaner through it. If it makes you feel better I only get 15 MPG on a 4cyl with a manual. I am geared and locked in the rear on 35" tires. The locking rear diff is a big factor in reducing my fuel economy by almost 70 miles a tank.. I would recommend ARB for the cost factor...
