Great link. Thanks.

Taken from the article:

"Consider the Toyota example. A 4Runner with the 4.7-liter V-8 and four-wheel drive lists for just under $33,445, but with discounts and rebates

Oh, he's on something alright, but it's gotta be alot worse than crack.

His campaign promise was not to raise taxes on those making under $250K, (or whatever the number was, he backpedaled on that already).

Does he think these massive taxes he's going to levy on energy companies are not going to be passed to the consumer?

He has stated that he wants to put the domestic coal industry out of business.

It's too bad people didn't look at these details BEFORE they elected him.

Yeah for sure...since we get 80% of our electric in Ohio from coal plants all the dopes here in Cuyahoga County who elected him are going to just love their Winter electric bills. Most of the neighborhoods who had ACORN voter turnouts are 80 year old homes with no insulation. Soon I expect to see the "electric bill bailout" for all these idiots.

Hey Guys,
This forum is about 4Runners, not politics.
There are plenty of internet sites where you can post your political comments.
This site isn't one of them.

True, but the current president's politics and policies have a direct bearing on Toyota 4Runners, and every other vehicle that uses gasoline in this country.

Where better to talk about elections having consequences than in a forum based around an SUV - an admittedly hated vehicle type by most of the president's minions and supporters.

V8 4x2 or 4x4 in the article and first example?

4x4 is specified in the article.

Of course, the article also projects possible future gas prices, and figures that the $6000 savings on the 4Runner would make the Highlander hybrid take 5.5 years to pay for itself...yada yada...and then goes on to say that "by then" Obama will be into his 2nd term and gas engines will be on their way to obsolesence...lol What would one expect from an MSN-based website? I'm sure their articles are highly scrutinized for specific political adherence prior to publication. Just don't let the cat out of the bag to anyone at C&D MSN that gas engines have "been on the way out" since the oil embargo of the early 1970s.

I like that the writer says you can buy certain V8 4Runners at $X all day long, and says "good luck" finding a Highlander hybrid that sells for "as low" as its MSRP/sticker price. Really? The lot where I bought my T4R had a single Highlander hybrid at the time...sales people said NO ONE was interested and "for the money" were much more interested in T4Rs and Sequoias. Went by that lot the other day, and the lonely hybrid was still sitting there - with REBATE in big letters on the windsheild...Too bad the author doesn't let anything like facts get in the way of his/her argument. Just because they and their tree-hugger friends "want" a hybrid, doesn't mean a statistically significant amount of the rest of the driving population does. IOW, there's more to America than LA and NYC.

Look at the forum's rules, SS.
Political crap is supposed to be off limits.
