Hi,
I have a new 2010 SR5, so new that I haven't emptied the gas tank yet. My manual says its a 24 gal tank.
If I run it down to the E mark when the light comes on how much gas is left? Will I be able to go 20mi 40mi?
Thanks for any info,
Jon

Sorry I don't have an answer but have a concern with this. Is it good for the fuel pump to let it go that low?

Toyota seems to be a little confused on the capacity of their fuel tank on the new 4R. Currently on their web site the capacity is listed at 23g, not 24g, however back at the end of last year it was listed as 24g on their site. The manual & brochure have both had 23 & 24 listed, depending on when they were printed. From what I have been told by 4th owners their tanks are 23g. I have a feeling 23g is correct but NO clue why it has gone back and forth.

I just checked my manual and you are right, it says 23 gal. I must have remembered some number I saw online.

I have had the trip tell me I have 40 miles left and then filled up with 21 gallons. Its hard to believe it doesnt have a couple of gallons for reserve.

Mine is the opposite. It'll say 0 miles to empty, and I'll only be able to put in 21gal.

I can also confirm with ciaz, I wanted to empty out the cheap gas the dealer first puts in. So I waited till the E light came on and I was able to fill 20.3 gallons. So, even if the light comes on, there is still that ~3-4 gallon reserve.

This has happened to me twice. By accident, I got down to single digits or low teens left on the counter and was only able to fill 19-21 gallons, which is straight up weird.

I once drove mine 30-40 miles past "zero" on the info display, but I didn't think to save the recept for how much I put in it. And as I recall the "E" light came on quite a few miles before the "zero" showed up.

There are earlier posts on this subject, and I think the fuel tank capacity was resolved, but I don't remember what it was.
