Gas mileage on lifted 2015

Hey guys I'm new to the forum but will be picking up my new 2015 SR5 premium on Friday. First thing I'll be doing is putting on a 3" lift and 285/70R-18 tires. How bad is this going to effect the mpg's. Thanks for any info yall could give me.

Not as bad as you would think. You should expect 2-3 MPG's in loss depending how youre driving. My buddy had a 06 tacoma with 33's and a 6 inch lift he only lost a couple mpgs, I would assume the 4runner to be the same if not better.

Thanks guys i was just curious. Driving an old ford f250 diesel that gets about 11 right now. So anything is better.

4r heavier than Tacoma but ya you lose at least 2-3 . Mine get about 16.4 around town & on recent road trip avg 75-80 mpn got 17.6 . Losing what little aero we have with lift , taller tires ! So if that sounds good to you ?

Just tires and lift are not too bad, Start adding armor, sliders.... It adds up fast. Pretty much a brick out of the box.

I recently installed a 3 inch / 1.5 inch spacer lift and I haven't noticed much of a change in mileage on stock tires. This will change when I get some bigger tires.

Same here. 2.5" spacer lift, along with an RCI skid plate & Rocky Road sliders. Running Wrangler Duratracs in the stock size.

Haven't noticed any significant decrease in gas mileage with these mods.

I am on a stock 2015 TE 4r and I have been doing some tests:

Right now in moderate city driving (not dense but not long open roads) I get about 16.51mpg. On the roadtrip I took I got roughly 17.5mpg doing 75mph.

I am going to record several different variables and see what I average over a month. Hopefully I dont keep this 16mpg bullshit up.

41k on a lifted 13 TE.

15.5 mpg overall on a wide variety of surfaces, two sets of tires and -20 to 120 F.

It's the same damn truck as yours.

Extrapolate.

I get the same 15 weather I'm loaded to the brim or empty), I'm curious what I'll get when I head to Dunefest in a week as it's 230 miles pretty much all Freeway...I'm hoping for 17!!

The most I've gotten was 19ish on a trip from Huntsville to Mobile, completely unloaded, running 72 ish on flat land in 100 degree heat.

I avg 17-19 mpg, mixed driving 50/50 city/hwy. I drive 70-75 mph on hwy. honestly before my lift and tire chg I was getting 19. I have 3 inch toy tech lift and 285/70/17 E rated nittos

It's unusual to see reasonable numbers when it comes to mpg and forums. You must be using the fuel receipt and calculating after a fill (actual mpg)?

What I mean to say is,
It drives me nuts when people are claiming 21 mpg with a bunch of heavy parts and a roof rack, when I'm driving the same vehicle, no mods but tires, using top tier fuel, driving like an old man, and getting 18 mpg

I have an ICON stage 2 with 265 NITTO terra grappler g2. I can get around 19 Highway but it drops down to about 14 in the city.....

For a while I had to do fuel receipts for tax deduction purposes and I started being super anal about gallons filled and miles traveled--and had to save my receipts and log mileage.

It's not super accurate, but it's not a terrible gage.

I know what you mean, without speedo correction etc.
I've just been used to keeping track as well, and I keep receipts for that magical time of year too.

It's a good reference though.

I'm ecstatic if I can get past 13 on the highway. 11 LE lifted, 34s, arb bumper, full skids, sliders, sound deadening, winch, gobi, and a fat a$$ driver.
