Gas Mileage

What are real world gas mileage figures for the 05 4R with the V8 and V6 with 4WD? I will be in the market for a 06 4R 4WD V8 and I assume the 05 has similar gas mileage numbers. Thanks

Do a search for this topic as it seems that somebody is always talking about this subject

Found some info for you on the V6 here.

These are "real world" stats from real people, vs the normal stats that the industry posts. Couldn't find anything on the V8 for 2005, but here's the 2004 info.

From my experience with both the V6 and V8 those stats for the "Average User" (www.fueleconomy.gov) are inaccurate and seem to be based on one vehicle, not a very scientific test.

My actual figures are for the V6: City=16-17 mpg; mixed driving=18-19 mpg: hwy= 21-22mpg: and overall=19.5 mpg
Results for the V8: City=15-16 mpg; mixed:17-18mpg; hwy= 19-20mpg; and overall=18mpg.

Granted, my results are based on single vehicles, but I

I agree with one of the posts above.....do a search yourself. There are some people with V8's that can't get more than 15 mpg and some V6's that average 22 mpg. There are just too many variables to get an exact number.

If you are on the low end with a V8, or the high end with a V6, you will spend/save more than $200/year.

If mpg is a main concern....I suggest that you don't get a 4Runner.

No, never said it was a main concern just wondering if the V6 engine gets significantly better gas mileage than the V8...........I see that it does not. I will be trading in a 04 Titan which gets 13-15 mpg.......so the V8 4runner will be an improvement in gas mileage. Thanks.

I have one question for you. Why do you want to trade the Titan for a 4Runner. You can lift the Titan up in the air for that go get'em look. The 4Runner can't be lifted high enough to get through a big mud puddle. If you are looking for mileage; then perhaps you should consider the hybrid Highlander. You had the best, large pickup in its class in the Nissian Titan in my opinion!

I'm looking to trade my Titan for a 4Runner because I miss my old 4runner (96), when I bought my 04 Titan I didnt care for some of the styling on the 03-05 4runner( never liked the squared off fenders, etc..) however with the re-design on the 06 I am looking to get back into a 4runner.........the family will soon be expanding and will need more room than a pick up affords... Now I have one question for you where did you get the idea I wanted to lift anything? I'm not looking for great gas mileage just was curious if the V6 was worth getting for better mileage over the V8........yea I agree the Titan rocks........howerver like I said i want an SUV again.......aka 4RUNNER!

I can't see a lot of difference between the 03-05 and the 06...or is that just me?

No, not a huge difference but the redesign on the fenders is huge to ME...........as I have said before, the squared off fenders have kept me out of a new 4Runner since the 03........and the I also like the redesign on the front/rear as well ....just my opinion....

OK Jake man I feel you! You have explained yourself well. I apologize for trying to force my likeness/desires upon you to influence this decision. Toyota makes a darn good product that will garner much more ROI than a Nissian. Good luck with you new '06 Runner!
