Im sorry to hear that you are not getting that good of mpg. Is that all city driving or a mixture? On my last tank I averaged right over 20 MPG which was a mixture of city and highway but neverless I was shocked to be getting that good but I did drive like a grandma that tank. Have you changed the air filter on yours lately? It also could be the gas, I have noticed when I use cheap gas I don't get near as good as mileage as I do when I use shell. Glad to see a fellow 3rd gen in Texas. Good luck man

12-14 MPG could be considered good under certain conditions. When you say "grocery getter", I'm assuming you drive mostly city, stop-n-go. If that's the bulk of it, then 12-14 isn't unheard of. Top off the tank and log your mileage, take her out for a 200-300 mile trip at no faster than 60-65 MPH, refill and do the math. If it's still below 18 MPG then keep looking for a problem. But with the info (or lack there of) you gave us, there may not BE a problem.

You are driving at the wrong truck if you want 20mpg for city or even highway pace, the only real way to get 21 or so mpg is to drive about 55mph the whole tank, and to shift early and stuff, and yes I can get 21mpg, but I can also get 15 and 16 mpg.

That chip isn't going to do anything for you. If you are looking to improve your MPG, you should check/replace your spark plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter and clean your MAF and throttle body.

Tire pressure should be checked first. You should be at no less than 32 psi for a 265/70/R16 tire. You can always add a few more pounds if you prefer. I average 18.79 according to my fuel app. 20+ mpgs is a highway only figure
