Gas mileage

hello, i'm looking at 4th gen 4runners and i would like to know the mileage of the v8 and v6? it's about the same i'll grab a v8 but if not i'll buy a v6. thanks.

I've got an '03 V8 4WD Limited. I get maybe 18 mpg on the highway. About 15.5 on my stop-and-don't go commute into Boston. That falls to about 14.5 mpg during the winter.

Those numbers are hand calculated (miles driven divided by gallons pumped).

2006 V6 4WD. I get roughly 20 in city driving semi-nice. 23+ going 70mph on the highway. Hand calculated not on-board computer.
 
I have a 2006 4Runner with the V-8. Using the mandatory E10 Ethanol and 87 Octane fuel, I get about 22 MPG highway and 17-18 kicking around town. With non-ethanol fuel,
the numbers go up between 3 - 4 MPG...
 
2007 V8 4X4: 19mpg. They both get roughly the same mileage but it all depends on your driving habits. If you tow at all, i would get a V8 just for the torque. Just get the V8 so you dont regret it later on. :cheers:
 
2008 V6. I get 20-21 MPG from 90% highway cruising mostly 65 MPH with some hills. At a relatively steady cruising speed of 55 MPH I get 24-25 MPG. These are hand-calculated #'s since the on-board is off by roughly 2 MPG high.

I do a lot of towing (mainly a 17' glass bass boat) and I'll average 15-17 MPG. I love my V6 (my previous 2 T4R's were V6's) but with the towing, I'm sorry I didn't get the V8. Mind you, the V6 is certainly no slouch.
 
I've been at fault for not entirely searching before too, so don't take what I'm saying as an insult, but pleaaase do a search for the answer to this. There are sooo many threads about this subject. It has been discussed extensively.

Hopefully the above links work like I think they should. I mean, seriously, there are so many threads and information on gas mileage of the 4th gens.

I definitely agree with this. I have the v8, but test drove v6's. Absolutely plenty quick enough, but I just wanted the v8. I was going from driving 4 bangers for quite awhile in Accords for many years, I just wanted the other end of the spectrum and can say that I do love it!

The subject of the v6's vs v8's has been debated extensively also. Do a similar search for this and you'll find strong opinions each way (both deserving in a way because there's advantages to each).
 
I have an '08 V6 4x4 and the computer says 21mpg city & 31mpg hwy... so plus or minus 2-3mpg's , I think it's doing pretty good :)

No way you are getting 26 mpg highway. And btw, the computer is about ~2-3 mpg optimistic on my 4Runner. Compute the mileage the old way -- miles driven divided by gallons pumped.
