17.2 if yours came with the P225/75 R15 tires

18.8 with the 31X10.5 R15 tires

my truck is a '94, would that make a difference? and right now it has 31/10.50/15 tires on it, which i believe would be the same as it came from the factory, because i think they are the original rims on it. 18.8 would make me run it a little longer, though.

It's the tire size that determined the size of tank you got

If yours came from the factory with 31's then you have the 18.8 gal tank.

Just look at the sticker in the door jamb. If it says 31's then you have a 18.8 gal tank.

My 93 2wd @ 180k was getting around 180 miles to a tank for the last few years. Recently I had about $250 in routine maintenance performed at a lube shop, including differential and transmission flush. After this work was done I'm getting around 250 to a tank in the city, 300 highway. Fuel filter still hasn't been replaced in around 100k miles. Believe my tank is 14.5, something like that. Reading the above posts maybe I'm wrong about that. A fillup after the light has come on for awhile will put in a little less than 15 gallons.

This is as good as the mileage was when I first purchased the truck in 95. I'm not sure what bit of work did the trick, but it was a night and day difference afterwards. Don't remember what size my tires are, but they are as big as I could go without rubbing on stock suspension. Street tires, but for the record, the Scorpion II's I had on here previous to these tires were much better for handling and mileage. Original rims.

I get 18 city and 21 hwy. On my 90 4runner swaped with the 3.4L with 14PSI S/C

city - 15 if I drive like I stole it
ctiy - 17 if I drive slower than grandma (i think I did this 2x ever...lol)

highway - 20mpg doing 65
highway - 18mpg doing 80

BEST milage - 27mpg leaving Nashville after world finals - drafting down hill at 65-60mph

Back when my truck didn't have a 600lb sound system I would typically get 21-22 highway and 17-18 around town.


FIPK - I agree about it not being worth the 215+ shipping. I only got 2mpg and a good performance gain in HOT (110* heat index) I suppose the gain is nice but the only down side is the damn cost....

And to that end I am working on a solution... And that solution involves elimination of the tiny VAFM, replacing it with a 7mge VAFM and redoing the intake tract with 3" mandrel.... I may have to gut a 3vze vafm's electronics and put it into the 7mge's vafm if the stock ECU does not like the 7mge or if the engine leans out at any point. (or goes pig rich)
