Gas pedal sticks

I have a 00 2.7 L runner and throughout my drive constantly I will come to a stop and when I try to accelerate I have to pop my gas pedal, resulting in a burst of speed and needless to say it's annoying! Has anyone experienced this problem? It doesn't stick during driving, just at stops.

God, I hope the suits at Toyota aren't reading this, they might jump out their windows! haha. You may need to clean the TB. The butterfly valve could be dirty and getting hung up a little.

brain is right the dirt is making the butterfly valve sticky in the TB just buy some tb cleaner and spray the shit outta of it and wipe it clean with a shop towel

The same thing was happening in my mother's Camry. I cleaned out the throttle body with CRC TB cleaner and the problem seems to have gone away. Use a toothbrush to make sure you get into all the nooks and crannies.

thank you guys so much. i bought some and am going to try it, is there a right up on it or is it simply that easy. just pull of the insert to get to the butterfly valve and spray then wipe?

thanks alot guys, ive heard you should mess around with that butterly valve, is this true. I also heard something abtou watching out for coolant spills when you do this. Does this sound correct?

no you only have to worry about the coolant if you r going to take off the TB to clean it, i think a good amount of spray and having someone holding the throttle open while you clean it is good enough. should be a 2 minute job:banana:

Is it the pedal itself where it swivels?
Could also be the cable.

it could be, i tried spraying some lps 2 on it and it didnt seem to do anything, i have heard that it may be the cable coming unbraded and getting stuck. It doesnt appear so though.
