Gas Pedal Vibration

Hoping you all can help me. I have a vibration in my gas pedal. I can feel it at certain speeds however I think it has more to do with the RPM. I determined this yesterday because at 65 its smooth, but if I press the pedal down so it kicks the RPMs up then I can feel the vibration.
I drove from AZ to CA and back with this vibration and it drive me crazy. Makes my foot go numb.

I took it to a very reputable drive shaft shop and they said it was not the drive shaft and to check the tires. I took it to have the rears balanced and they were fine. Have yet to check the front. But what makes me think its more Motor related is the correlation with the RPM

The Day The Vibration Happened: I did an oil change and tire rotation. I also replaced some vacuum lines on my Oil Catch Can. I also put in a whole can of Seafoam into the gas tank cause the following day I would burn through it all going to CA. I did all of this then drove to the store and on the way home it started to vibrate.

Some say it may be a clog in the Fuel Filter so I just bought one of those (have not installed it yet). I'm also wondering Could it be Motor Mounts? Is there something internally in the motor that could have knocked it out of balance?

1999 4Runner SR5 4x4 Auto 273,500 miles.

I had this happen after I put the supercharger back on my engine.

turned out to be a lose bolt on the throttle cable mounting bracket. I can't say that is your issue but it was that simple for me. it is super annoying when it happens. trace your throttle cable all the way and make sure everything is tight and in the proper place. there is also a bushing that will go bad and I replaced mine.

vibration due to a misfire maybe? though any decent shop should have been able to find that...

You might have just saved me from doing a full engine swap! ok JK but seriously I think this was the problem. Just looked under at the bushing and its fried! Building a new bushing now. Will report back. If this is the solution then this thread needs to be added to the Maintenance section cause I'm sure others will need to know this.

Problem solved

Special Thanks to [MENTION=168172]sleepydad[/MENTION] for the video. Turns out that little bushing was the problem. Watch the video for an in depth look at that bushing.

To go a long with that my pedal ALWAYS had some play in it. I just thought the throttle cable was the culprit but it was this bushing wearing out. Now the gas pedal is stiff and I can accelerate much easier since there isn't half an inch of unusable play.

How I fixed mine: I had a little rubber "stopper" that fit perfectly. I drilled out a hole that would just fit the cable into. Slid it onto the cable, then for piece of mind I put a zip tie on it to secure it.

Obviously a new cable would probably be the way to go, but this is very cheap solution that is working just fine.

I'm not sure how to make this a sticky but I think it should be cause this little bushing is probably failing on many third gens as they age. I had no idea it was even there.

there is a surprising amount of vibration in the throttle cable. maybe when they did the oil change they yanked on the cable and finally killed the grommet/bushing?

I might use your bottle stopper trick on my winter beater, because it also has a ton of slop. but first it needs to get above 30 deg.

Well....before I did the oil change I had my snorkel facing towards the passenger window which created an addicting intake noise. So I was on the throttle extra hard. Again I had play in my pedal for years. So i think the excessive happy left foot finally did it in.
Yes the bottle stopper is a perfect fit and should mend it well.
