Gas Pedal

My 1995 4runner has a stiff gas pedal. Any suggestions on how I can get it a little smoother? Thanks guys.

You can spray some silicon lube into the cable housing, results may vary.

I have the same prob in mine its really stiff mine is a 94

Same issue here. Perhaps that's just the way it's design, so that it's not so sensitive when you're bouncing around off-road.
Since I got it, noticed the pedal is much stiffer than my other cars. When I drive the others again, I need to get used to the sensitive pedal!

Its the design. Here are two pictures of gas pedals. The one with the smaller spring is from my 1998 4Runner. The larger spring is from my 1995 Runner. Its obviously this spring that is making it stiff. My question is, are these pedals swappable? I would like to put the 1998 pedal into my 1995.

I sprayed mine with WD-40, now it is easy to push.

A few weeks ago the cable on my 87 started binding halfway thruogh its travel. Decided to buy a new one from the dealer, oh soooo much better now. Feels like I am driving a Porsche in comparison.

I sprayed PB blaster up inside mine from both ends and pumped the pedal a whole bunch, now it is nice and feels like a proper Japanese 4 banger.
