Suggestion: delete that double decker cargo plastic deep in your trunk on the floor. replace with whether tech or another liner will get you about 2"x8"x40" of extra cargo space

I think I'm gonna use this smoke plastidip to coat my wheels.. for now. I'd like to have them done by someone who knows what they're doing but this will work.
I only did one so far, but I like it a lot from afar
but up close the texture isn't as smooth as I'd like
I finished up my new sub box but still have to deal with the gap from the double decker and get a backpack & tool bag for the gear & tools I like to carry.
edit- I also got my new LCA bushings & sway bar links but haven't had time to deal with it
looks like your usin the mud flaps lol i still haven't looked at puttin the trimmed ones you sent on (just haven't takin the time)...
the one wheel you did looks good man!, IMO bbs's are bangin with the finish they come with, but if your wanting to do the smoke finish it looks like you've got it nailed. The main thing is to just keep the paint can the same distance away from the surface your spraying at all times the closer it is the darker the coat the further away the lighter the coat. to get the texture to go away after your done take some clay bar Mothers® California Gold® Clay Bar System this stuff is like magic. I was clear coating some rocking chairs for my front porch (i had them hung behind my dads shop from a tree running the air hose out the shop window to shoot the chairs) anyway the wind was blowing and blew overspray to the other side of the shop all over dads 07 tacoma :bash: I looked into how to get it off and this was what everyone recomended. it worked great took off just the over spray i had gotten on the truck and just polished up the clear coat, also took the clear varnish overspray off the windsheild and plastic trim pieces.
I'd say between the mod skills you showed on that satashi grill and this clay bar kit you can get the perfect finish on those BBS's without paying somebody to do it for you!! a good way to get the shade right on all four rims (which would be extremly hard to tell the difference in when mounted) is to lay them all out at the same time mask the whole tire off with paper and tape on all wheels. lay them all close together in the shade perferably so the sunlight or light reflections dont play any illusion tricks on you. then spray across all the rims and (masked) tires evenly start with extremely light coats like just barely making a change give each coat about 15-30 minutes dry time in between coats to acheive the desired "smoke" effect. Allowing the extremely light coats to dry and barely applying product over each coat should allow you to tune for the look your going for. and with the clay bar by your side any overspray or rough texture won't stand in your way very long at all happy wrenching to you!

Thanks for the suggestion but I actually planned remove the piece to cover it with a piece of wood wrapped in the same carpet used on the sub box, and I already have a cargo liner to put back there when i get it sorted out. I just didn't have time to finish that up yet.
Austin - Thanks for the advice, I like the finish on the BBSs as well, but since mine were used they aren't perfect and after having the gunmetal SE wheels for so long I grew to like it more than I realized. I'm still not 100% if I'm gonna keep it, so for now I'm driving around with one smoked wheel and 3 regular. FYI my GF doesn't want me to change the finish either.

just to help gaterose out, he found them on Ebay one came with the lower metal piece that mounts under the head light, he puchased the other metal piece he got else where..

like the bulbs? or the housing lol he got the housings on ebay thats all the info i got from him when i spoke with him about his facelift.

I just mentioned he had to get the metal strips that mount under the housings because his is a 2003 model with 2006 headlights
BTW where in north carolina are you im over here 30 minutes out of charlotte!

Yep, got the housings on eBay. Both are OEM but used. I paid $50-60 apiece shipped, and, as Austin said, one came with the lower trim piece. The other did not.
