Gathering Interest for PrlnSu Roof Rack Aluminum

Hi fellow members, I don't know if someone here has started a list of 4th gen members who would be interesting in purchasing one of these roof rack. There is a member from Tacomaworld who builds these low profile n lightweight aluminum roof racks that can handle up to 500lbs. I'm not a spokes person for him or a salesman.. I wanted one, but he hasn't had the time or money to make a prototype. So he said it's ok if I got a group of guys who would be interested in it. Take a look at his website n forum link.....

I love how his side plates match the curvature of the vehicles, that's a big plus in my book and I'd love to know how he's getting that measurement.

But the cross bars aren't exactly what I'd like for my vehicle. I'd want more of a mesh bottom basket that can hold some weight. But the low profile look of the product is exactly what I am looking for. I may actually be interested in the progress of this project, though not entirely sure if I would buy one until I saw a prototype or two.

I really like the modular design. Plus that it is aluminum seals the deal for me. My brothers is planning on one for his Tacoma already. Seems like a great product. I would be very interested to see what a full length rack would cost.

I actually saw one on a Tacoma in person at the last Bay Area get together this past weekend. They are very well built and the cross bars have done adjustability and are removable so you could maybe make a basket for them.

I am interested, however I should note if the product does not clear the sunroof when tilted up, then I will look elsewhere. I did notice that the photographs of the "FJ rack" looks to be able to clear a sunroof, if it had one. I need my sunroof to open both ways without a doubt, no exceptions.

From what I saw, the cross bars are easily removable so the rack should be able to be easily configured for sunroofs. The cross bars seem to sit high enough to clear the sunroof though, so either way it should work.

This looks like it could be a great alternative to the much more expensive FrontRunner rack. I'm definitely interested if he wants to offer a 4Runner version.

I helped in the attempted installation of one of these on a 4Runner about two weeks ago.

The rack is awesome. Incredibly light, incredibly well made. Very VERY cool

HOWEVER

After waiting a few months for the rack it did not come even close to fitting. Not even a little bit. It was as if he had designed it for a 4Runner, without taking any measurements from a 4Runner. None of the mounting hardware fit, none of the mounting points lined up, and at the front where it contours to the roof there was a gap of about 5-6". I could fit my hand (fingers extended and joined) under the front of the rack with about an inch of movement up and down.

That said- I would also be interested in buying one, but I'm not interested in playing guinea pig.

Hopefully the owner of the rack doesn't get upset by my comment... They're working on fixing the issues... But who knows how long that will take.

Due to the modular design of the crossbars you could EASILY move them around to ensure proper working order of the sunroof.

I would love one, pending funds of course. Thats the problem with getting new 4th gen stuff, not enough people needing a new version something at the same time.
