I found some at AutoZone, though it was hidden away and I had to get one of their "experts" to point it out. Also, dont forget the interwebs, I just did a quick search and found a plethora of 75w-90 for sale...

I highly recommend Torco SGO, if you can find it. It may cost $20 a bottle, but it's money well spent.

You can use a GL4/GL5 in the diffs and transfer case but only use a GL4 in the manual trans. http://www.toyota-4runner.org/maintenance/76100-manual-trans-gear-oil.html

I use 80-90 in my gears & all on my 92 3.slo. Also use 15-40 Royal Purple I believe in my engine. Runs smooth!

GL4 is better on the syncros and it will shift better.

Honestly my 80w90 & my 15w40 all Royal Purple work wonders. Try it out

Same thing here. I use 80w 90 in both axles. With my locker in the rear it definitely keeps it a hell of a lot quieter, less CLICK CLICK CLICK around turns. The 80w part just means it'll be a little thicker than the 75w will be when it's cold, 90 is what it'll be once it's warmed up, which is around 200 degrees I believe.

I think my tranny and I are gonna have a little talk... I don't think she's been using the proper protection.
In fact I think I should go ahead and get new fluid for it all.
crappy noob question but how much do you guys go through when changing all the bottom end fluid minus engine oil? I always just use the big multi gallon container and pump it in there.

That's kinda high to just replace gear oil. Unless they will take it aparts and clean it.
The local lube shop is charging $69.95 for replacing the gear oil. I can provide the gear oil, if I like.

It's because the GL4 they have to order in. He gave me the rundown on the price..the cheap way is for them to buy 5ga at a time..so basically I am footing the bill for that since I am requesting a "special" oil.

holy hell thats high. order yourself some gl4 in quarts and give it to them to do. thats way to much to do anyway. if its a pain to do, its an hour tops for someone slow. about $90 an hour and fluid cost after that.
if they are a good shop they will understand you not wanting to supply them with 5 gallons of gl4 and will let you bring your own. if not, that is a red flag to me.

Alright, I'll order some GL4 and do it myself...I didn't think the price was that bad but I'll go to Napa and order some GL4 dino gear oil.
On a side note I did the seafoam cleaning to the motor..did it at night cause it smoked pretty good. Been driving all weekend and can definitely tell the difference. Lot more pickup and my MPG is up also. I am getting about 16mpg combined city/hwy and that is about average for when it was new. Happy camper.
