Gears and Lift 85 Runner

Ok I am getting ready to lift my 85 runner. A friend of mine gave me 35 inch BFG muddies and I was wondering how much of a lift I would need to fit them. I am not looking for hight just enough to run them with no rubbing. I am running 31's right now with a little rubbing. Also, would I have to re-gear for 35's? If so, what would I need?

You should be able to run them with a four inch lift, and maybe a little hacking around the fender.

But you will deffently have to regear. 4.88 gearing might work, but I would keep going and get 5.29.

The BF goodrich site has a great tire/gear ratio chart that you might want to look at. If i can find my link I'll post it up for you.

4 inches, and some sheet metal trimming or a small body lift.
Maybe some wheel spacers to minimize tires rubbing the frame.
5.29 gears for 35-36" tires

Ok well after looking into things a little I concluded that regearing is simply to pricy. And lift kits have my head spinning. I just want something relatively cheep that will work. If I went for the 3" lift, class 1 on this site, http://www.4wheelonline.com/Products.aspx?CategoryId=4667&ProductId=28767 would I have to order any things else? or choose any of those extras?
Thanks for the help

I attached a snapshot of my runner, hope it comes out. Its hard to tell from the pic but the back left side saggs a bit. Do I need to replace the back springs or will blocks/ add a leafs work fine?

If your butt's already sagging, blocks or AAL are a poor band-aid. Get new spring packs all around.

i would think that a 4 inch lift and some sort of a body lift would clear 35s. x2 on the wheelspacers. you would need to regear to 5.29 in order to have any traces of power or feul economy. but also bear in mind its not ONLY the size of the tire, but ratehr the added extra weight. gyroscoptical rotational inertia accounts for most of the power loss. if you subtract 5 pounds total from your total wheel/tire wieght, it is equivalent to subtracting 150 lbs from your vehicle wieght. just something to think about.

now for one of my questions. i am going to do a 4" pro comp lift for my truck. i am not going to spend the money on a re-gear. this lift and big tires is mostly for looks. my cousin has 33" muddies (with 17" rim) but i have 29" tires on a 15" rim. if i am ordering the 4" lift, i might as well throw in 17" american racing "teflon thug" rims too, and have them, with the 33s as my daily driver. how bad would that kill my fuel economy and power? because 29s and a 4 inch lift wont look too great. if i was doing any major long highway driving i would switch back to the 29s. thanks, and sorry if that doesnt make any sense.
