Geebus....tire question on 16" wheels

I bought new wheels...they were sold to me as being 17" but they are actually 16"...the guy must have just measured across and figured it was 17 as it measured around 17 1/4" or so...but he didn't measure on the inside...

Anyway....so I found out the size tires I would need for 17s, but for 16s what is the largest tire I can get without rubbing.

I am thinking that 265/70/16 is the tire size. I am in a 2WD, don't need off road tires, just some good driving tires.

Any ideas?

I could have gotten 4 factory takeoffs 255/70/16 for $200 but it would be 4 different tires...no way.

ya the largest u can go without rubbing on an 01 2wd 4runner is 265/70/16... some of the earlier models can go with 265/75s but since ur coils are a bit shorter u wont be able to fit them without trimming.
