Gen 4 Nav unit in Gen 3?

Damn! I really want to keep things as OEM as possible... Don't get me wrong, I do love a nice aftermarket set up, but I really would prefer a Toyota Nav Unit. I wonder if any other Toyotas made during the 3rdGen 'life' had nav units that would be compatible? I'll have to look into that. Thanks for the advice!

Well I have a nav for sale from my 07 if you want to try it out. As far as I know, no toyotas before 2003 had OEM NAV. So your only going to find the style that I have for sale and I do have the newest version. Basically it may sound like a plug, but if your going to try to make it work, mine is the most current you can do it with, the wiring in the back is all the same.

IS IT POSSIBLE? YES it is. basically you'd need the wiring though which would have to be cut out of a 2003+ 4 runner, tundra, scion, sequoia, camry, MR2 spyder, highlander. You just need the plugs and about 6 inches of wire. THEN you need to figure out which are speaker wires, etc... The nav itself is self inclusive so there will only be wires for speakers, power, accesory, ground, antenna coming out of the back.

Let me give you a little hint though. If you spend 15$ on a harness made for a 2003+ nav equipped toyota, the wires will all be labeled on the harness. Then you can just plug it into the oem harness you bought for the nav and you can see what each wire is. I would THEN buy a harness for YOUR truck and wire the OEM 2003+ harness TO your aftermarket harness, that way you didnt make any permanent changes to your truck.

It can be done, but it takes a little bit of work. If you want to buy my NAV, I will walk you through it AND I'll include the antenna you need so it's just the speakers/power/ground wires you'll have to work out. Obviously you wont have steering wheel controls (But if your truck has them, That COULD be worked out most likely) and you DEF wont have bluetooth.

LMK if your interested
