General Grabber AT 2 and other tires--->

[2005 SPT V6]

Tire rack has these tires in a 265/70/17 for only $93 each and they look identical to the BFG AT KO. The looks and the price look to good to pass up. Also looking at the Firestone Destination AT and also the Yokohama Geolander ATS. How would these tires compare to the Revo's? Not to many reviews on the General Grabbers and the Geolander ATS, but the Firestone Destination has great reviews. Just can't decide what to get. Here is a link below on the Grabbers!

General grabber

Great tires. Had them on my FJ cruiser. Awesome in snow and look great. Would buy again.

I couldn't find enough info on the grabbers, so now I'm looking into the Firestone Destination AT's since they have great reviews and decided I want to stay with the 265/65/17( stock size) tires. Anyone have these on there 4th gen 4runner?

I was going to buy the Firestones but when I noticed the new tire tread depth was not deep on size 265/65/17 I backed off and went with something that had more tread depth.

I did noticed that! The 265/65/17 are 11/32 and the 265/70/17 are 13/32, is that really much of a difference just by eye balling it?

The tread depth was just one reason I went with the Mastercraft Courser A/T tires The tread depth in 265/65/17 was 13.5/32 and the 265/70/17 LT is 16.5/32 and the standard load 265/70/17 is 14/32.

Even so I don't think you would be dissatisfied with the F-stones I have a friend that sells them and says they are quite good.

I just took a look at the tire rack site and they posted the overall testing results of the General Grabber A/T-2 tires and they did quite well with an overall rating of 6 best out of all the current tires they have.

There are better tires overall but if you are looking for a tire with great snow performance the ratings were: (Lt. snow 9.1) (Deep snow 9.3) and (Ice 8.0). This sounds like a great A/T for winter if you don't want to buy a snow tire.

The Grabbers also have a tread depth of 17/32 in size 265/70/17 this is quite a deep tread for an A/T tire.

They must of just posted the reviews within the last couple of days. Thanks for the info! On the General tires website they show a 265/65/17 coming soon. Still undecided if I want to upsize, but have to replace the spare.

I would stick with the stock size I went back and forth with this one before I bought my Mastercraft CourserA/T-2 tires but after I had seen them at the tire dealer and noticed how much wider they looked I did not want to take the chance of going larger/taller so I stayed with the 265/65/17 size.

You amy want to call or email General tire to see if the 265/65/17 is available yet.

According to there site it said coming fall of 2006. I was thinking of calling tirerack, just to see if they would know when they are getting them.

One nice thing about the Gen/Grabbers is they are priced right. Some of the tires in 17in size are big $$$ and I often question there price/performance ratio.
