General Grabber AT2

I have these in 255/70/16 on my 2001 4Runner. They have the snowflake for severe winter conditions, and I'm satisfied with their performance on the road right now in the summer.

I can't find out whether this is a winter tire with a softer compound I don't want to run on summer roads, or whether it is an all terrain, all season that still has a severe snow conditions rating.

See, for the most part my winter driving is on bare pavement, and softer winter tires actually add dry road capabilities over what a harder rubber would in a similar temperature. I just don't know what to do with these tires.

Maybe I'll run them through the winter and get dedicated all seasons next spring, and dedicated winters on different rims next fall. Decisions.

u kinda answered ur own questions, they're run all yaer, the tires state ATs, thats exactly what they are, the symbol just shows/means they're rated for severe weather also. a dedicated snow/winter tire will say so. like a blizzack,etc.

Awesome. Well, I can't see any point in getting a winter tire, then. Since these aren't soft, summer won't kill them, and if they are a bit hard in the winter they'll last like a treat on bare pavement (even though winter tire advertisers like to push the whole stopping distance thing that a soft tire in cold weather offers) and stand up to the snow and slush, too.

Grabber AT2's are excellent winter tires and will serve you well in the summer months as well. I now have them on my Tahoe and they are a pretty good tire. They are much softer than a comparable BFG AT K/O and therefore they wear faster and provide for a slightly smoother ride however, they are much less expensive than the BFG. Also, because of the softer sidewall they don't handle as well as a BFG K/O. But then again, besides me, who's looking to improve their times on the nearby interstate interchange on and off ramps?

Cool. I'm looking at the BFG AT KOs for a future replacement, and I'm a little confused about sizes.

I have a 255/70/16 in the Grabber, and I'm not sure if I should get another 255/70/16, a 265/70/16 or a 265/75/16. I love the look of the Grabber on my Runner and appreciate the fact I can go anywhere in any weather and only need to worry about keeping myself in one set of tires rather than getting dedicated winters. The BFGs look like nice tires, as well, and if they are a bit harder that would be nice for summer tire wear (since mostly the roads are dry in winter). The sizes throw me, though.
