General Grabbers AT2

I just got a set of General Grabber AT2 265/70/17, and noticed when i make hard left or right turns they rub. Has anyone else had an issue with this? I wanted a slightly bigger tire, and a buddy of mine has the same size but said he didnt have that issue.

This is a very common issue, yes. My 265/70/17's rub too.

Those tires should fit fine. I have two suggestions for you which are issues I had trouble with.

Firstly, at full lock the steering stops on the spindles contact the lower control arms which can sometimes make a rubbing/grind sound...this can be solve by greasing the steering stops. If your confused, a search will help.

Secondly, I later had an issue that only one side would make a rubbing sound at full lock, turns out my skid plate was bent out toward the wheel and was making contact with the tire.

Once I did those two little fixes, my 265/70/17's fit great.

EDIT: I guess I was mistaken but my 265/70/17's Geolanders fit fine, no rubbing and I didn't trim or remove mud flaps.

some brands/designs of that size tire (like BFG AT, which the generals are similar to) have rubbed slightly because of the squared off design when used without a front lift. you can always move the inner fender forward to stop it like at bottom of this link. Toyota 4Runner Wheel Spacers

Wow, great write-up in that link thanks for sharing. I have Spidertrax installed only in the back because I was worried about front rubbing. This looks like the perfect solution.

Any idea if the wheel will rub at the back (towards the cabin) with spacers installed? That's what my Tacoma did and I had to remove mudflaps and trim the inner fender.

I went ahead and did the front fender liner mod yesterday. Happy with how it came out, but I also had to remove the mud flaps because it was rubbing on them with the spacers.
