General HTS

Hey guys finally decided to replace the Dunlops on my 2005 Sport V8 with the General Grabber HTS. Went from 265 65 17 to 265 70 17's. I chose those tires because I won't be doing any off roading except for an occasional dirt/forrest road. So far the ride is smoother, handling/cornering etc is better. Only difference is that my computer now shows anywhere from3-5 mpg to 13.3 mgp. Any ideas why the computer is acting so weird? with the Dunlops it showed anywhere from 14-18 mpg. Hopefully my mpg hasn't dropped off that much. The new tires are only (supposedly) 3lbs heavier that the old ones. Thanks in advance.......Harold

You changed the outer diameter of the tire, wereas your computer thinks it's still the same - the computer measure will be off as a result. Your are actually travelling more miles than the computer thinks you are, hence the mpg display is low - you are also going faster than the speedo says so be careful!

thanks Dave, I knew the speedo would be off I was just curious about it displaying such a difference in mpg. Guess the 1" height makes a difference with the computer. The V8 got almost 16-17mgp if I kept it below 2000 rpm's (close to 65mph) hopefully the mpg's won't change that much. I've only had them 5 days so time will tell.
