Someone turned left yesterday morning in front of our 96 4R and it just couldn't stop in time. It isn't looking good for the truck. It will probably be totaled out ... irritates me...it has 220k on it and I was hoping to keep it going until 300k. The drivetrain was working fine all these years.
I have an 07 4R and we have been looking at 2010s to possibly replace the 96. Looking at the new trucks there are some things we found annoying about the design. Placement of buttons/knobs. The rear cargo tray (we have two dogs). Little things seem to be missing. Like heated mirrors etc.... :nono: I have always liked the 2nd and 3rd gens the most, but I do love my 4th gen after all the mods. The Limited 5th gen though, so far neither of us are too taken with it.

Annoyances/Missing: For those of you who have already purchased the 5th gen...what things have you found annoying (or missing features that you would have expected - I mean the little things) like heated mirrors, in glass antenna only, placement of buttons that are impractical, or things that you don't know until you actually own one, say certain functionality of electronics (this with that). I know there is no V8 but are there any major issues beyond this that you feel might be a deal breaker?
Dog owners: Sliding Cargo Tray + Dogs = Seems like disaster....anyone have any input on this? I think we would go with 3rd row seating (it's a lot to spend just to have a flat cargo area) just to eliminate this issue....anyone have any feed back on this one.
Fold flat seats/Camping: I am used to our 96 and my 07 runner. So many of us use them camping and you don't need a tent. It appears there is no way to get the cargo area and rear seats flat just by folding things. Any feedback on this one? aftermarket solutions?
Wheels 20": for $%# sake....20" wheels for something that will see dirt...geez. :ybrick: And I though my 18's were bad. Has anyone been successful with getting 17's at the dealer before the purchase? Or other solutions....obviously someone would probably trade them but I am curious what the 4x'ers have done for this issue on the 5th gen.
Factory Nav: I have a hybrid disc in my 07. The whole locked out NAV was annoying. I use it about once a month with a passenger. Do hybrid discs work on the 2010 nav...or are there other solutions aside from something like Prestige Society?

-The rear center arm rest concealed a tray and cup holders
-The second hidden compartment in the glove box
-The cargo table in the back. I don't use this because of the dogs but it is flat in the back and doesn't slide.
-When the cargo deck was folded up you also had a cubby to store stuff between the rear seat and the deck. Pretty kewl!

What big things have you discovered that would also be a deal maker? Things you hadn't thought about until after you owned one. Of course I have no examples as I haven't owned a 5th gen.
