Get-togethers and meetings

This is not a dig at anyone or this group as a whole, I am interested in your thoughts/opinions though.....

Most other forums I am on, the enthusiasts (you really have to be one to hang on these forums for long) seem to get togther for runs, social events, meetings etc, but it does not seem to happen here. The Meetings forum is nearly dead except for the awesome posts by bulldog-toyo (sorry did I get that user name right?).

Why is this? Is there not enough people using this site yet? Is it certain demographics or the nature of the users here (maybe more street, less offroad?), are we all just to lazy to organise something in various states etc?

I was really hoping that I would find a 4Runner site that would have get-togethers for runs and the occasional meeting.

In SoCal (by using the net to browse) I haven't found any groups specifically for 4Runners and especially any primarily for stock 4x4's. Most sites/groups seem to cater for the more extreme 4x4 user that has mega lift and is not concerned with body damage.

In South Australia we had all sorts of clubs that ran all sorts of runs. My favourite trips being the beach runs where most rigs would get stuck at some time or other and need to be pulled out. You learnt a lot about your rig and yourself in sand with very little risk of damage. The beach runs were pretty soft on the vehicles as opposed to rock hopping, tight trail riding and mud bogs.

I'd love to get together with other 4Runner owners for beach/dune runs, especially with families for get-a-way weekends.

So what are your thoughts on this?

I know what you mean. I was a member of maxima.org before I sold my Maxima and we had local meets pretty often, but we also had an annual National Meet, where people from all over the country would come. The biggest had over 100 Maximas from coast to coast. One of the big draws for the Maxima was that people were doing all sorts of mods for them and everybody wanted to show them off and see what else was being done.
I would love to have a big 4Runner meet, even if it looked like a dealership parking lot. For the most part there, besides the earlier generations, there aren't a ton of mods for the 4Runner out there. On the other side, I had a chance to see the Corvette caravan from the south heading to the 50th anniversary. The cool thing about that was that for the most part they loked stock, but just seeing the volume of them was amazing.
I'm all for it, even if it would be just to meet everybody and hang out.

First off, welcome aboard fellow local socaler ;)

I believe the reason why this board has few events is due to the fact that this board has only been in existance just for a short period of time. Thus this board is still growing and molding so in no time, you'll start noticing more action in all the areas of the threads. Thai has done a excellent job building this site and maintaining it for all of us.

Likewise, there are other yota forums that has been around longer and all of them have had it's fair share of the growing pains. Yotatech which has been a few years now has actually grown quite abit and I foresee that T4R will be the same in the next year or so. So it's just a matter of time.

If you are interested in a 4runner jamboree, there's abunch of socal/norcal 4runner owners along w/ a few stragglers that will be attending the 2nd annual 4runner pismo jamboree!

http://www.4runners.org/pismo4rj2/

All the information is located there and all you have to do is email them so we can have a good headcount :) It's a family style event where it's just one big sand dune to play on. There is absolutely no difficulty in this as a stock 4runner can manage the dunes (just don't get stuck) ;)

July 9-11, 2004 (btw)

Also, if you check out yotatech.com, there are quite a few trail run events available so if you are interested join one of them. we have runs usually once a month ranging from beginner to advanced and we cater towards the group that shows.

But anyway, I'd say your best bet is joining this Pismo 4runner Jamboree as you won't want to miss this event!!

Cya there :)

I think Good Times summed it up. T4R.ORG is still relatively new and just needs a bit more time for the meets to start going. Linhsy and I were trying to throw one together in Northern Virginia, but we didn't have a huge response and couldn't finalize a date. We've put it off until we can have a larger poplulation from Virginia and surrounding at the boards.

It'll happen and I'm anxious as you to meet other T4R owners out there and share our experineces with each other.

July

Oh yeah, welcome to the board! :D

i went with a 4x4 for this very reason, so i can hit some trails with friends and other 4runners. as t4r grows, im sure more and more get togethers will materialize and take place. cant wait!

also, this is probably too late, but i'm planning on driving the rincon ohv shortcut tomorrow morning if anyone wants to join. itll be the first time i'll be using 4x4 even though i probably wont need it. :D

Good Times - you are the man! Thankyou, thankyou. Pismo looks awesome. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be there due to committments elsewhere in SoCal but this is a great lead.

Thanks heaps:D

Thanks Gator, nice setup now we can post per area.

Ok guys start organizing some trips, it's summer.

I am planning to do a few trips this summer and fall.

Doing some trails by the Yosemite in the Sierras is my plan for summer and then Death Valley and maybe Grand Canyob for fall.

And as always quick runs to OHV areas are always fun. For people in Cali http://www.wt4wheeling.com/locations.htm
