Getting into the front overhead lights

I am trying to get into the overhead lights at the front of my '99 4Runner. By this I mean the lights you can turn on and off by pushing in the little button on each side if them. I am trying to clean out behind that clear plastic, because it looks like a previous owner got some junk behind there, oddly. Thanks

i used precision screw small enough to fit in between the plastic lens and cladding. pry it carefully on the pivot point on the side. once you moved one corner, go to the next corner and pry open. be carefull those plastic lens are a little brittle.
