Getting rebuilt transmission today...how long should I expect it to last?

Howdy all, I am getting my tranny re-built today in a 1999 Limited.
Also putting in an aftermarket cooler at the same time, to bypass rad cooler. How long should I expect this tranny to last?
I spun a bearing sleeve on the torque converter & it welded itself to the TC.
I know it depends on how good the re-build is, but this transmission has great reviews & probably is fairly straightforward for a tranny shop.
Has anyone any experience with an automatic rebuild in a 3rd Gen?
They said they replaced all seals & clutch plates + anything else that needed replacement? Filling with BG synthetic universal.
Anyone with rebuilt transmission experience on a 3 Gen t4r?

Ive yet to run across a shop that will touch them...I guess they are out there, but I hear these are pretty finicky on their tolerances. Good luck. I would have just found one from a total, probably would be cheaper too.

How much did it cost? How many miles does your runner have? Im in the process of deciding to do a complete over haul on my tranny or just run it into the ground while looking for a low mile tranny to swap it with. And you have the A340f transmission as well correct?

A good rebuilder is worth their weight in gold. W/ that said, your transmission will last as long as it was built to last. That factors in the quality of the builder, the quality of the parts, & the level of abuse you put on it. Unfortunately the most important part of that is the builder. B/c a good builder is gonna know what parts are quality & what are crap. A good builder will know how you treat it.

I wouldn't worry about the rebuilder or the trans I'm a trans mechanic and these trans are pretty run of the mill if he did anything wrong your gonna know within a few miles and if that happens the mechanic should back up his product I've got a rebuilt in my 99 and probably gonna do my 2001 next should out last the truck with the aux cooler

Thanks so much all, this is reassuring. The cost for the re-build was $2980.00CDN + labour & fluid (synthetic BG universal), so about $1000.00US...haha (kidding). My mechanic, who doesn't do transmissions other than flushing, removing & install, uses Aamco in Vancouver, he says they are awesome, 2 year warranty 40,000km. Also, because I do a lot of road tripping this warranty is valid throughout North America. My feeling, like CKooyers is that if it lasts that long it'll last a lot longer.

Ray, my next oil change will be 234,000km. You'd have to weigh up your own situation, but if your runner is great in all other areas & you are attached to it, it's way cheaper than a later model. Who'd want one anyway, our 3rd Gens are the BEST. That's why my feeling is to keep them alive. I've just had the truck 6 months & previous owner only did short trips in the city. Only used 4X4 once a year at Christmas to drive 200km to his parents house.
I really don't think the tranny fluid was ever changed, it was full and still reddish, but tired. Flushing the tranny was the next & last maintenance job on the list. Oh well, I'll be good for another 2 years before a flush?
