I've got a 2005 4Runner with 230,000 miles. I noticed a "bump" starting to happen two years ago when I'd stop. It was clearly coming from the rear end. I have the tranny tested and rear end looked at three or four times and nobody could find anything wrong! I posted on this forum and one of the guys said he too experienced it and to grease the rear "U" joints. I did, and I mean a lot of grease. It helped so every time I changed my oil I had the rear end greased... The problem is it's getting worse and happening all-the-time now. Even when I start from a stop and she shifts into 3rd I can feel a "bump"... When I come to a full stop and sit for 15-20 seconds I'll feel the it "bump". And as soon as I take my foot off the brake it'll do it... So it's getting worse. Any ideas what it is...? Tranny? "U" joint..? Alex...? Like I said, I've had 3 - 4 mechanics look at it and no one can pinpoint the exact problem! Thanks!! Bob.
